Question:
Is immigration going to become the wedge issue for conservatives in the 2010 midterm elections?

Banks are stable, the auto industry is no longer in decline, housing is still shaky but stable, Iraq is gearing down, Afghanistan is ramping up. Unemployment is still high, but I think artificially so at this point. The Oil spill is a mess in the Gulf. But, all in all, things aren't looking as bad as they did a year ago financially. While double dip inflation is a possibility, there's no sign of it yet.

So, what issues will the republicans run on in 2010 for the midterms? I think it will be immigration if they don't enact any reforms before then.

Michelle Malkin, Sean Hannity & Glenn Beck are all wrapping themselves in the American flag and FOX News is leading the charge reporting all these immigration stories lately by showing their support of the Arizona laws that clamped down on illegals their state, this includes almost cheerful support of the Arizona BUYCOTT campaign the past 4 months, and non-stop coverage the past few weeks of the sensationalist story about the AZ. State Park on the border that is "controlled by drug gangs".

Is the right planning to use immigration as a wedge issue to enrage voters come November for the midterms? Opinions?

I hope so. Every time the Republicans have used this as a wedge issue they have done quite badly. With a bare majority of the United States now white it really doesn't pay to alienate minority groups. Like it or not, there are very few areas of this country you can win a general election without support from minority groups.

It's the economy. I think incumbents, regardless of political party are vulnerable.

The economy continues to suffer; the national debt is out of control, health reform is not understood by the average American, Afghanistan is a mess, financial reform sent financial stocks soaring, and oil is destroying the gulf. So from this perspective, going out to a hamburger joint with the russians seems like a good idea. Immigration? Oh yeah, the core issue destroying our society from within. Give the folks an opportunity to naturalize. If our Gov't doesn't get into solution space, this will overtake our great land. A lot of good folk moving in. Let's give em a chance.

I believe that they will still be using the health care law, and also the immigration. the economy is still in the toilet and the other things you said are not so much on the rise either. Maybe obama thinks we are too stupid to remember what he did, but he will find out in nov. Fox has to show the truth, because the main stream media is afraid to. main stream only shows the good points of obamas administration and never the bad. And there are more bad then people know. Do you honestly think the government should be suing any state for having a law that is essentially the same, only stricter, then the governments own law?

If you don't think immigration is a REAL issue, and the Democrats are on the wrong side of the issue, you're crazy, and deserve to lose your majorities in Congress.

And this economy is headed for a double-dip recession. Only those with 0bama-blinders still believe it's rosy.

The key issues for the Republicans in the midterm will be the Democrat's dangerous spending irresponsibility, the job-killing economic malaise as a consequence of 0bama's massive mega-deficits, and the Democrats radical shift to the left.

the place is the liberal experience of majority rule? that's barely a difficulty for the democrats who're set upon making something 'apple pie' a technique or the different politically incorrect, nevertheless: 80 5% of the yank public needs an respected language decree. ninety two% of Republicans interior the homestead pick it, additionally. the only democrat candidate that has come out in want of it, is Mike Gavel. while finding on the democrat applicants as an entire, it somewhat is obvious that based upon their systems and attitudes, there's a pick for all human beings to deliver a message to Washington that we intend to maintain our American history, our patriotic rights and national identity by using balloting Republican interior the coming near near election. there's no shame in being a US citizen. Sideline - while attending the college of Texas at Brownsville, my professors frequently spoke in Spanish. After elevating my hand to enable them to understand i could no longer understand, they might communicate some traces of English earlier going lower back to Spanish lower back. I as quickly as made an appointment with a coach beforehand of taking a attempt i mandatory help with in undemanding terms to discover an English conversing coach replaced into unavailable. - this ought to in no way ensue on our soil. I moved out of Brownsville so sorry I ever went. Years later, between the 1st fallen squaddies of the Afghani conflict replaced into from the Brownsville section and that i sat anxiously looking at for a information convention in honor of his physique being back homestead. The mayor of Brownsville replaced into scheduled to communicate. He approached the rostrum amid the flash of considerable media and spoke in Spanish in undemanding terms! How unhappy that he felt it greater considerable to make a fact related to his ethnicity than positioned across the enormity of that lost to the yank public. Tsk, tsk, shouldn't have surpassed off.

If they try there are many of us who will high-light their record on Immigration and gutting the Border Patrol. The Republican Higher-ups do NOT want Immigration fixed because they lose a major source of income and CHEAP labor and for the same reason they do not want the Border Patrol to be able to seal the border.

Americans are sick and tired of reading that u have to be "bi-lingual" to fill a job. It really means that only Hispanix can apply even if they only speak spanish. It's racism pure and simple. If a person who speaks 3 languages is interviewed he is told that he is overqualified. It's racism pure and simple.

I don't think so. If they do, they will come across as freaking idiots. Bush and his Republican congress had six years to do something about this issue and didn't. Besides, getting rid of illegals will hurt corporate profits, so that ain't happening.

Dems are going to lose because they love illegals
