Since it will not be the Republicans that pass the legislature needed it doesn't seem like 'anything' will happen to them. If the unemployment rate is 8 percent or under in 2010 and 2012 the Dems will probably win again. If it is, 10 percent or more, the Republicans and Independents will sweep back in.
