Question:
Have you heard this new hype about Obama not being a naturalized citizen?

Barack Obama is not legally a U.S. Natural-born citizen according to the law on the books at the time of his birth, which falls between “December 24, 1952 to November 13, 1986? . Presidential office requires a natural-born citizen if the child was not born to two U.S. Citizen parents, which of course is what exempts John McCain though he was born in the Panama Canal. US Law very clearly stipulates: “…If only one parent was a U.S. Citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16.” Barack Obama’s father was not a U.S. Citizen and Obama’s mother was only 18 when Obama was born, which means though she had been a U.S. Citizen for 10 years, (or citizen perhaps because of Hawai’i being a territory) the mother fails the test for being so for at least 5 years **prior to** Barack Obama’s birth, but *after* age 16. It doesn’t matter *after* . In essence, she was not old enough to

It's not hype. It's TRUE.

I will not vote for Barack Obama, but not because he is not a naturalized citizen. Clearly he is not. He is a natural-born American citizen, so he did not need to be naturalized.

You are wrong about Hawaii. Hawaii became a state in 1959. Obama was born in 1961.

Your entire argument fails because it is based on the premise that Obama was born on foreign soil. He was not. He was born on American soil and he has the same rights of citizenship as I presume you do and as I know I do.

Let's get on with the debate. This issue is not part of it.

This desperate attempt to claim Sen.Obama is not a natural born citizen has been circulated for months and dispelled. Obama released his birth certificate some time ago and it clearly shows he was born in Hawaii in 1961, which was a US state at the time and still is.

"Presidential office requires a natural-born citizen if the child was not born to two U.S. Citizen parents..."

So, what this means is: you have to either be A) a natural-born citizen, or B) born to two US citizen parents. Right?

So, that's the fallacy in your arguement. He does not fit the requirement in (B), because his father was not a US citizen, but he DOES fit the requirement in (A), because according to the Constitution, if you're born on US soil, you are a US citizen.

Therefore, Barack Obama is a natural-born citizen and we don't have to concern ourselves with the fact that his father wasn't a US citizen.

Yes I have heard this, and yes, it's all hype.

Like every other candidate for President who is eligible to be placed on the ballot, Obama had to be thoroughly vetted by the Federal Elections Commission, which is currently under control of our Republican administration. That agency has already concluded that Obama and McCain both meet the constitutional requirements for appearing on the Presidential ballot.

Anyone who has contrary information is invited to call the Federal Elections Commission to report it. They would be happy to know about it.

Your bullshit radar is working..

Notice even the wording of this "according to the law on the books at the time of his birth"

Thats like saying that someone should be procecuted for a crime back in the 70's even though that action isnt illegal anymore..

doesnt work that way.

Yes, it's just another lame rumor. He was born in the state of Hawaii. 'Nuff said...

Yes, the Democrats wouldn't put forth an immigrant as their Presidential candidate....they want to divide our country, but, not that way....!!! Hence, if it is all true, then all this ranting would be "hot air!"

that is all this is - hype. Do you really think the DNC and MoveOn.org would have spent so much money backing this charlatan if he weren't a US citizen? Talk about a massive oversight! Besides, the Republicans would have shouted this out immediately if it were true - they stand a much better chance running against Hillary Clinton than Barack Obama.
