Question:
Why is the word "assassination" only mentioned with Obama?

It has been stated in many media outlets that Obama has more security than McCain or Clinton. And, it was mentioned that he had security long before the other candidates did.

Why is it that neither of the other 2 candidates have to be 'worried' about the threat of being assassinated?

Have we regressed that much as a country?

Thoughts?

Well when you have Clinton being the one who brought it up in the first place and then to make matters worst you have Liz Trotta from Fox implying that someone should shoot him.

I think that is enough of a reason to get more security..

America is still a very racist country, just look at some of the postings and responses here on YA. What I find most horrible is that even a political candidate is suggesting that her black opponent may fall victim to an assassination attempt which would help thrust her into the position of the Democratic nominee. I think that the Vince foster case should be reopened since she is capable of making such tasteless and heartless comments for the sake of vain-glory.

History tells us that anyone that has tried to bring positive change to this country...their lives have been threatened or taken by the crazies of this country. And the fact that Clinton continues to bring it up is not only inappropriate but disturbing.

I think all the candidates should have secret service. But it's clear that Barack needs more unfortunately. We still have hate groups alive and well in this country it's a fact. I just don't think it should be implied, especially by a candidate that ah yeah we know you are out there that's why I'm sticking around because you may or may not take out my opponent.

Insane.

Regressed?

Obama has had that level of security throughout his campaign.

I am sure Jesse Jackson had far more in his first presidential run.

It is, IMO, a great sign of progress in how far that we have come that a Black man can win a party's nomination. No one has ever burned a cross in my front yard or threatened me or my loved ones because of my race. (I did happen to get fired once along with 5 of the 6 total black guys who worked in a department of about 200 folks, but frankly, that was the choice of one bad seed IMO under a corporate mandate to cut heads --- not proof of rampant racism.)

Frankly, in racism terms, as old folks raised with racist values die, America becomes less and less racist. Like Michelle Obama, I too am proud of the progress our country has made on racial issues. We just have some regions that we knew would lag behind a bit, because racism is a little more deeply seated there. I don't think that is a huge cause of concern.

I think the next thing we need to do as a country is start breaking down the racism expressed against Hispanics and Native Americans as well as readjusting our financial focus to help poor folks of all ages --- not just poor black folks.

(For the record, I am half Black and half White and have no Native American or Mexican blood. I guess you could say, I have "half of a horse in this race" --- which is to say no horse at all...)

Yes. We have. There are crazy racist nuts or some of HRC women supporter who are probably out to get him. Since Obama started campaigning he had to get secret service men. Yes. It's because he's black and really might win the election. There are some crazy people out there regardless of race. Obama has a positive message. He is inspiring young voters just like RFK. I think it's stupid what HRC said. She implied the reason she is staying in the race in case something bad or he gets assassinated. That's sick.

Why are you only asking questions about Obama, are you a poller? I think so. Tell him we need someone with the ability to lead and not just pretty speeches. He is going to get raked over the coals unless he actually answers some questions instead of just describing a utopia that he will create for everyone by simply raising taxes. So simple, why was it never done before? Oh, wait it has and it failed! Read your history.

Well I've seen it associated with the others as well but I think moreso with Obama because he's associated with hateful statements and I think with the hate that he's stirred up that there will be people that won't be able to deal with that. Crazy folks who hate for color, come in all shades and it's more likely he'd be the one if there was one, however I hope that wouldn't happen.

We shouldn't be encouraging it in any way... Period... There are too many loose canons in this country who would shoot anyone just to get three hots and a cot in this country... Never mind the fame of assassinating a candidate... Just bad taste and bad judgement...

Hillary cunningly sent this message out to racist America, specifically as a plot against Obama. It was a horrible thing to do and every American should be ashamed of her.

I think that many Americans hate him and do not want to see him destroy America with his so called change. He might want to wear a bullet proof vest all the time. I would ask why do they hate him ?
