Obama is definitely no Bill Clinton?

Didn't Bill Clinton cut spending when he was in office? Isn't that why Bill Clinton turned the deficit into a surplus? Should we expect the results of Obama's presidency to be like Clinton's when Clinton cut spending whereas Obama is out of control with spending?

No, President Obama is not Bill Clinton, not even close.

I thought the other day, "If Hillary were in the White House, we might have to lock up the pretty interns but the stock market wouldn't be in the tank and our 401k and retirement funds would be a lot fatter!"

Is that truly what you believe? I think he mentioned Obama's name about 13 times when he very easily could of left out the name and the speech reminds the same. You may not like the Clinton's personally and that's your right.but first and foremost THEY ARE AMERICANS we do not have to wonder or guess at what they love even more than politics. They have the good of this country at heart everyday not just when its convenient or political idea to do so.His own books, his own wife his own ego will bring Obama down.He wants us to forget all that stuff and vote him President. He may very well win,or not,November will tell but the Clinton's had nothing to do with his winning or losing, you want to bash them then expect them to hold up a weak candidate,it's not their job,it's Obama's if he wins or loses I am looking forward to hear if he has anything to say other than change and hope because all I see right now is a man without a clue. Some of the best speakers we have ,have gone to bat for him what else can they do?

Clinton didn't have the luxury of a heavily controlled Democrat Congress when he took office, but because of his attempts at legislation for massive spending he ended up with a Republican Congress for the last six years of his presidency. Otherwise, spending would have been substantially more. Those cuts you refer to were done predominately in military spending which is primarily how he was able to balance the budget. Most of the other contributing cuts came in area of welfare after republicans gained control of Congress and forced welfare reform down his throat. There is a method to the democrat's madness, though, and that is that they have to get all these social programs, etc. out of the way in time for most of us to forget them by the 2010 election or Obama will end up with a Republican Congress too. ...and that is the only hope this nation has of surviving in any way close to what we have know it as.

Hehehehe! I can tell from your question that you were a kid during the Clinton era (1992 - 2000)...must have been about 8 or 9 years old...cause you can't remember that Clinton inherited the worst deficit that carried over from Regan thru Bush I (1980 - 1991).....

Bill Clinton has a reputation for being a centrist, not necessarily liberal. But, then centrist policies of the Clinton era (NAFTA and Financial Deregulation...in fact all deregulation (utilities and telecomm) occured on his watch...and that is why we hear the great "sucking" sound of jobs leaving America...as Ross Perot warned...but then again, being a "kid" at that time...you wouldn't have remembered that...

I remembered it because I was in my mid-twenties during the roaring 1990's.

Actually when Clinton took office, he hired a lot of police and the National Debt spiked up, then spiralled down. But you have to remember the country was not in the dire circumstances as it is today.

Once the Bush tax cuts for the rich expire, I think you will see more money available to the government for repairing our infrastructure.

Yeah, Bubba and Boris Yeltsin drank vodka together and were pals. Obama insults Gordon Brown.

PS There was no surplus under Clinton, and when Bubba decided not to play ball with the Republican Congress, government was threatened with a shut down.

Clinton, Bush, Regan, JFK, Washington, Abe, Teddy ...

Anyone of the PAST Presidents do are not the ones in power

The majority of the country elected Obama

What ever they did in past is the past...period

Only thing we should do is worry about NOW and use the past for reference to NOT repeat or do things that might work today

Correct...Obama is no Clinton...He is President Barack Obama and himself his own man with entirely different agendas, time and people and 42% who dislike him and want him to fail...

Clinton wasn't facing economic problems that are as severe as the problems Obama is facing. We have not seen anything like this economic mess since the Great Depression.

Obama has however stated that he will address the budget deficit problem but he has to handle the priorities in order. The number one priority now is turning around this sinking economy. Deficits are secondary.

Clinton never had a surplus, but you're right.. Obama is nowhere near as good a president as Clinton, and Clinton wasn't really that good.

Actually, it's all of our business.

Until he gets a blow.job in the white house, I'd say no. I think very few can pull that off and get away with it. Case in point, we all know that blue dress got stained.

The recession Bill Clinton inherited wasn't even half of the one Obama inherited. More drastic measures are required.
