The owner of the Dolphins recently said he will sell off the team at 2008 capital gains tax rates before they possibly double under Obama's Presidency. Other business owners have said they will have to lay off workers. I am curious to see what kind of effects this would have on you. Before you answer, please know the details of the Obama tax plan. Thanks!

i will let my employees go and retire and shut the business down ..take my gains before january 1

i am 55 and dont need the hassle

small business owners will have a eye on that 250000 line instead of growing as fast as they can

i can care less about the taxes..i am too old to deal with the rules that will be imposed

i will be required to hire people i dont want and do things with my business i dont want to do.

the capital gains tax would cost me 200000 if i quit

First Obama's $250,000 cap on small business shows how out of touch with reality he and his staff are. A well run lemonade stand will make more than that. Also he has never stated on his taxes gross or net. I know of 2 businesses right in this area that have already told employee's that if Obama is elected one will close his machine shop that employee's over 50 people and the other will scale his assembly business back from appx. 30 to 10 and he will take another job just keeping the assembly business because it is his "baby'. Obama will not be good for business because of the "ghetto" mind that all big businesses are run by evil CEO's and when these college kids that are supporting Obama hit the job market they will get a wake up call to the socialistic world of Obama. Less jobs and lower wages

Our family business makes over $250k per year. This is the business, not the individuals. Obama's tax plan will increase taxes on our business, because he considers us wealthy.

We will probably have to lay off workers, or at least not replace those that leave. If we can raise prices we will, but that can only be done if people can afford to pay the higher prices.

My 63 year old father who is in semi-retirement will probably have to work longer hours to make up for the lack of personnel that will likely occur. All of us will work longer hours. Of course, we are "rich" according to Obama, so I'm sure he believes that we should be working 80 hours weeks instead of the 60 hours that we currently do,

First of all the Dolphins owner is just upset because Obama isn't going to cut his taxes so that he can pocket thousands of dollars as McCain would. Seriously do you think that tax cuts to large corporations actually gets passed on to the consumer...those savings go toward the executive bonus plan. As a small business owner, I am extremely excited for an Obama presidency. Once he gets the economy turned around, I guarantee my business will prosper like never before.

PS - that's great if all you guys are actually business owners shutting down...more for me! Thanks!

Chargerman - actually Obama's tax increase is on profit NOT revenue. My company makes over $1M per year and if I netted over $250K I would get a new accountant.

in the beginning, my huband and that i the two have CCW helps and very own weapons. i will never see the 2d exchange ever being taken away. There are too many human beings antagonistic to it. And with the form our financial gadget is in and the quantity of money we've lost in the previous few weeks and the drop in our homes fee, i won't base my vote only on ONE project. the suited to undergo hands isn't likely everywhere. If issues sustain the way they're, we will could sell our weapons in any case! Be genuine right here. we can't locate the money for to vote in accordance with one project. seem on the super image and something will fall into place.

If your business is going to lay off workers, It is either the Financial meltdown brought to you by the Bush criminal regime, or you are not a good business man. To foist the blame on someone who isn't even elected yet is a real stretch. What's wrong with making those who have profitted mightily in the past to have to pay their fair share? The owner of the Dolphins can afford to pay extra taxes. I can't

Business owners and the rich will simply have to pay their fair share without getting write off and loop holes. It is what the poor and the middle class have been doing all along, paying taxes. The rich will simply have to cut there spending a bit. Buy a $300.00 bottle of wine instead of the $500.00 bottle. If you are lucky enough to make over $250 k you can pay your share.

Huzinga owns 50% of the Dolphins and is a staunch Republican. He is partisan and biased. The only workers that will lose their jobs will be the McCain inaugural speech writers.

Well, I don't have NFL owner money, but we've already talked to our accountant about limiting growth of our small business.

We take a tax hit, we lay people off.

There's the Obama plan in action.

Create more folks who need a hand, then cut off the hand that feeds them.

Do you people realize just how hard Obama had to work to make me miss Bill Clinton?

Nothing. I and everyone I know is doing great under the Bush plan. These past years have been incredible. If Obama does something harsh, then I will have to adjust, but I doubt he will do anything drastic. Our economy is very robust, unless you are in banking (then God help you).

oh, I'm laying off workers because I have to pay higher tax, because I make millions of dollars I won't be able to spend in this lifetime, boo hoo.

What an idiot, that guy is.

Like Whoopi said, "I have no problems, as a citizen, paying my due to ensure the growth of America"- now that's a patriot.

Yes, I understand Obama's tax plan and yes, it will hurt my business. At this point, if he's elected, I know I'll have to scale back. I've been trying to brain storm ideas, but none of them look all that great at this point.

Spending will have to stop. That means workers will be layed off. Whatever money they have in the bank, will need to be deposited in a foreign country with a more stable government.
2008-10-29 06:54:32 UTC
None, unless your planning to ship jobs overseas then you have nothing to worry about. You have it all backwards if you think he is raising business taxes.

The McCain ads cut and paste Obama's words. They dont tell you everything he has said or written.

Nothing, I will enjoy the fact that THE AVERAGE hard-working American will be able to AFFORD my services. What's the point of hanging on to a few extra tax dollars, if my business is failing because people can't afford the services, due to an economy in ruins thanks to the republicans.

Picked up some for sale signs from the re-possessed business next door just in case.

I applied for McDonalds, but they don't want men with degrees flipping burgers.
