China also raised prices to curb demand which is a ridiculous statement. Americans will pay how much more for e-coli products this year. Americans need to start realizing what effect this is having on our economy and what the greed ratios are.

What are you talking about? Unless you are in the middle of a full blown panic attack, there is no excuse for this kind of gibberish.

Do you know why diesel is up to $3.36? It's because that's what people will pay for it. If they couldn't sell it for that, they wouldn't. I know I'm buying less. I don't like it, but it would be stupid to do otherwise.

America's back is just fine, thank you. It's health is not dependent on the price of fuel, because people still control the quantity consumed. As fuel gets too expensive, people will use less. That's why China raised their prices, to stifle internal consumption.

I'm not aware that anyone charges extra for e-coli products anyway, so I don't know that that is even possible.

What effect? The economy is growing just fine. My guess is that your comment is more of a reflection on your personal situation.

That would be why you are confusing a greed ratio (whatever that is), with prosperity. The fact that you're not experiencing it to your satisfaction, means it must be a bad thing for other people to have it. That's just jealousy on your part. You need to grow up and deal with adversity like an adult.

I am not to keen of knowing or worrying of what others do with regards with their internal policies.



Until, WE, start taking care of ourselves, thats all that matters.



Remember, for a while our food stuffs were banned. Like our beef & pork due to steroid use in the 80's & 90's. So too we should just ban this items.



As for greed ratios, your right, that has to be curbed, if we just did not buy fuel for 1 day, just to send a message. What would happen?

W/O trucks, America Stops.. Trucks account for over 2/3 of what we consume. Yes, that reflects on purchases - it will hurt in the long run. Add the cheaper trucks off NAFTA and due your math.

As a former Truck Driver (Owner Operator of Long Haul Trucking company) I would tell you that the prices you pay for everything are partially based on the cost of Diesel Fuel. I can not think of one thing that you would purchase in the USA that was not trucked there (the place of purchase) from somewhere else. So higher prices at the pump equate to higher prices in the stores.



The solution is for this country to become energy independent. We can do that by a number of simple steps. First, make the taxes less on the price of a Gallon of Fuel. The Government(S) both Local, State and Federal make more on a gallon of fuel than the oil companies (whose typical profit per gallon is less than 6 cents). Second, allow drilling in Alaska and in the Gulf of Mexico. Third, allow the oil companies to build more refineries. (Environmental Regulations have NOT allowed a NEW refinery in over 20 years).



Comparing our fuel prices to other countries is NOT a valid comparison for any number of reasons (won't go into the economics here as it is too long a discourse).

What's breaking America's back is excessive government regulation and taxation.



If the tree-huggers and bunny-huggers would let us drill for oil in Alaska, Diesel prices (and gasoline prices) would be much lower. How does 50 cents a gallon sound ?



If the EPA would let us build more refineries (all of them in the US are now over 40 years old), we'd have more capacity and the prices would be even lower.



How about removing ALL taxes from gasoline and diesel fuel? that would lower the price 40-50 cents a gallon immediately.



The GREED comes not from the oil companies (if there were no oil companies, there would be no gasoline at all, at any price)



The GREED comes from the government, who piles more and more tax burden on the shoulders of the working man every year.



You pay FAR more in taxes every year than you pay for gas & diesel.

Funny that it could be solved by drilling in Alaska and by building 1 large or 2 moderate sized refineries, but the LIBERALS will not allow it...but they blame it all on Bush.



Gamla...you are kidding, right? It is true that taxes (federal and state) are 14-18 times higher than the profit on a gallon of gas for the oil company...but to even begin to say that they are struggling when 2 of the last 3 quarters, they reported RECORD PROFITS! Plain and simple, we need to drill in Alaska and build refineries...PROBLEM SOLVED!

the oil companies are not making a killing of of this. Many are struggling because the weak dollar is making it hard for them to do business overseas.

This is largely supply and demand. In particular the increasing demand from India and China, and the loss of supply from the Middle East due to political and natural events.



I suggest you look up a concept called peak oil.

I am only paying $2.90 a gallon for Diesel, I have not seen it over that in a year or more- and it is actully going down- slowly, but I have never seen Diesel for that amount- maybe you should move?
