Question:
Why is Obama proud that Fidel Castro endorses him (it's on his website!)?
2008-10-17 08:52:58 UTC
On Obama's website Obama says that Fidel Castro endorses him and that Obama's cousin in Kenya Odinga has named his son "Fidel" for Fidel Castro.

Here is the link (it's about 3/4 down the page):

http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/stephenfox/gGgL4s

Why does he proudly put that on his website?
He should be ashamed. Communism has killed 100 million people in the last 100 years.

Obama and Fidel share the same views. It doesn't surprise me in the least.

Been asleep? The election marketing campaign strikes at a distinctly quickly %., y'understand. This one did no longer extremely make too lots of a splash even while it replaced right into a small little bit of information....particularly by way of completed tale: "Former President Fidel Castro says Sen. Barack Obama's plan to maintain Washington's commerce embargo against Cuba will reason starvation and suffering on the island."

This is posted on a personal blog on the Obama website. Anyone can post these things on the site. It was only posted yesterday so they haven't caught it yet, that's all.

I have reported it to the web administrators of that site, and they will probably take it down shortly. It was hard to find, that's why he posted it that way.

Nice try!

/ Obama is proud to be a Socialist, and Communism would be the ultimate society to him.

America was attacked on 9/11 with targets aimed at Capitalist Icons.

Now, Obama is attacking our society with threats of Socialism, and some are buying into his charmed way of presenting doom, gloom, high taxes, and Terrorist ties as if they are just things Republicans are afraid of.

Another fine example of the types of associations Obama aspires to!

That should raise some red flags. I thought America hated Fidel Castro. That article is praising Castro as if he won a nobel prize! What is wrong with our nation?

Where did you get that stat about communism killing people? How many people have democratic nations killed in the last 100 years? I remember some guy in Germany that was ELECTED by people, killing a few million people himself in just a few years. By the way, the US people don't hate Cuba. Bush hates Cuba and people are afraid of communism for some reason, even though the US will never be communistic.

Normally, a person is "proud" of who they are, because of something

"good" they have done, or standing "for" something good. Obama is

proud of wanting to be in control, so that he can hurt millions of decent people.

I would be proud to endorse anyone on EITHER side of the political aisle, IF they choose to start talking about the issues. Neither side has chosen to do that.

First off, that was ENTIRELY out of context (if you re-read the article) and second off, we continue to alienate Cuba because we don't agree with the leader (which is Raul, not Fidel).

Obama believes we should open lines of communication with Cuba, and help strengthen our relationship between the 2 countries so that people in Cuba can escape from oppression. That, and do we really want another cold war with nukes from Russia sitting on a island 80 miles from the US?

If you read the context of the article, he isn't "proud" of the endorsement.

Hmmm. Didn't know that, but I'm not surprised. Obama doesn't care who, or how, he just wants IN!!

Economic systems kill people now?

Well, maybe unchecked capitalism. No-pay, no treatment.
2008-10-17 08:57:56 UTC
Well, in some ways, Communism ( when done right, not by Chinese or Cuban idiots ) can be a very good idea.

Everyone equal, and receiving the same?

I quite like the sounds of that.

But alas, it won't work.

So maybe he, like me, thinks it's a good idea.

That and Castro is quite a powerful and influential person to be friends with.
