Do liberals/Democrats think the failing economy is "good politics for us"?

Click on the link below, and scroll down a bit.

You'll see a quote from Bill Clinton saying that whenever new problems arise in the country, it's "good politics for us."

Wow!!! Does this mean that Democrats are HAPPY that we're having economic problems -- so that they can capitalize politically?

Very stupid quote from a politician who certainly knows better.

"The administration keeps plowing an Uzi's worth of bullets into the McCain-Palin ticket every time they have something else go wrong," Clinton told an evening rally of several hundred people gathered at Roanoke's downtown Market Square. "It's good politics for us."

What was that man thinking? If I were an independent voter, I would think Clinton was happy over the country's problems. Expect the McCain campaign to be all over this.

Now, you have stretched that statement to its breaking point. Your question doesn't even make any sense. No, we are not happy about the horrible state the nation is in, which is why we are Democrats. The self-serving Republicans have ruined this country.

Bill Clinton was correct in stating that "it's good politics for us," because more people are enlightened about the horrible Republican policies and will by large percentage vote to change the current state the nation is heading toward.

Actually I am beginning to think that this crisis could have been engineered by them to make us cry out for government to take over huge parts of our economy and be happy that was are becoming a socialist nation.

If you read an analysis of the current economic crisis it was brought on by Democrats and Liberals. they are the ones who have benefited most from the wall street firms that are in big trouble.

Finding dirt on McCain they have to dig pretty deep the stuff on Obama is right on the surface and first hand not through his brother-in-laws former roomate .....

Oh and by the way, blaming McCain for the current crisis is pretty darn silly since the House of Representative branch of government is the one that sets the budget and they are majority democrats.

Pretty opportunist of them to create the problem and then blame Bush some more. Especially because we nominated McCain becuase he is totally NOT a Bush man.

Simpleton Jennifer, maybe you should have your head checked ... again. The FACT that the economy is failing is the result of the McBushies and the Repub-LIE-CONs unethical ('Tom Delay), greedy ($billions in tax cuts to Exxon, Haliburton bidless contract awards ...), and corrupt policies (K-street lobbyists). Clinton is simply stating the obvious. This final insult on the American people by the McBushies has sealed the fate of the Repub-LIE-CON party for many years to come. First you lost the house and senate, and for good reason. Next the presidency. 이별 분실자
I'm back...and this still sucks.

I don't think that he meant that anyone is happy about our current difficulties, rather, I think this was an acknowledgement of the fact that there are certain conditions that are favorable to the political agendas of either party. In economic downtimes, historically, democrats do better than republicans. If there was another terrorist attack or something of that nature, republicans could be expected to capitalize.

Is always good for the politics of the party who is trying to regain the White House. Can't help but think why don't we just stop using the terms democrat or republican and see them for what they really are.

Yes they kiss our asses to get our vote that sends them there but when they get there do they represent themselves or the people that sent them there. Only you can decide on Election Day
2008-10-12 22:13:58 UTC
Yes. They believe it is good only as far to make the American people think the Dems are saving us from the evil Republicans. No one believes their party is or could do anything wrong.

It's all politics. They are carefully plotting and planning every move. The goal for both sides is to stay in power. Who will win this time?
2008-10-12 21:56:23 UTC
Not happy about the problem, but happy that the evidence of the problem became crystal clear BEFORE the election.

The sad part is the next President will get little done except try to clean up the mess Bush has made.

No, the democrats are not happy about the economic strife but since it usually happens when a republican is in the White house, it bodes well for democratic candidates

No. That was a really lousy choice of words on his part. But what is true is that when things go wrong under the Republican president's watch, it makes things harder on the Republican candidate. He has to distance himself from that without alienating his party. It's tricky business and makes the Democrat's chances of winning go up.
2008-10-12 22:07:45 UTC
This means, obviously, that major problems arising close to an election often hurt the incumbent party if they can in some way be linked to that party. Not rocket science here.

Bill Clinton was talking about the law he sign of Phil Gramm's. You know the guy that claimed that All Americans are Whiners that worked for McCain.

The law that Clinton was talking about is know as the Enron law that deregulated all the laws that has cause the break down of Wall Street.

It was the Rep's of deregulation that cause it.
what?

Why do you bother quoting someone if you leave out the rest of what he said?

The administration keeps plowing an Uzi's worth of bullets into the McCain-Palin ticket every time they have something else go wrong," Clinton told an evening rally of several hundred people gathered at Roanoke's downtown Market Square. "It's good politics for us."

I think that is the worst kind of politics. What affects the GOP affects us all and a failing economy is nothing to gloat over.

Now, it is not a lie that when things go bad for one party, the other benefits. when all those sex scandlas involving the GOP cropped up in 2006, that did aid the DEMS, but that doesn;t make for good politics
2008-10-12 21:58:59 UTC
When they started the election campaigning the dems said as long as the war and the economy go south we will win.

That says a lot of how they think. They care more about being in power than the state of America.

What a bunch of losers

The Democrats actually created the economic crisis. The mainstream media has yet to place the blame on the Democrat Party. Obama has zero credibility regarding the economy. Obama is actually one of those who were at the epicenter of causing the crisis.

You are still hot! And your ideology rocks!
2008-10-12 21:55:10 UTC
No, that's just slick willies opinion, he's kinda crazy. In truth problems that outline a certain parties campaign strengths are good for that candidate, obviously. Obamas personal life and partial ties to radicals is good for McCain right? He just hasn't said it yet.

John McCain's personal fortune traces back to organized crime in Arizona, through his father-in-law, according to a report published by a multi-news agency team called Investigative Reporters and Editors Inc.

Whenever something negative happens that will effect voters, it has a tendency to help the party not in power. This is not partisanship. It is common sense.
2008-10-12 21:58:19 UTC
Ah yes, another spin -- and the lumping of all Democrats into one big unthinking group of knuckle-draggers.

Oh, sure --- we're all sitting around drinking beer and burping, waiting for Bubba Clinton to do our thinking for us.

Doh!

Both parties have had a shot at this. They both failed us equally. It's time for a new party and the best way we can show our power is to vote our the incumbents. Let's shake up house and senate.

Only if you admit that foreign crises, like Russia invading Georgia, is good for the Republicans.

No more so than McCain's adviser thought an attack or military crisis would be "good" for McCain.

Get off the high horse already.

No, I am not happy that people are losing their jobs because of your despicable president and the congress that supported him for most of his two terms. I am so angry that I pledged my heart and soul to see that anyone in his party is barred from holding public office in my state under my watch.
