Why do you think the Republicans lost the 2008 election? Was it the economic crisis, or perhaps something else?

The Republican Party knew they could not win the White House in 2006. The first cracks in their control of the people were becoming obvious then with a small minority of people actually starting to read the laws that had been pushed through and the growing number of Americans realizing how badly they had been lied to. The real killer of their chances was the fact that the economic policies where unraveling and they were hoping they could forestall this collapse until the Democrats took over.

Oh, I almost forgot, the fact that Republicans refuse to admit they make mistakes had a huge amount to do with why they lost last year and if it does not change why they will not win in 2012.

And the reason I think they will lose again in 2012 is in the Answers to this question:https://answersrip.com/question/index?qid=20090409111717AA6a0h7&show=7#profile-info-9sEFemgLaa

Just look at the difference between those who will vote Palin and those who will vote Obama. Emotion vs Reason. We tried an administration based on Emotion and look at what all we lost.

Because the majority of Americans are finally seeing them for what they really are, empty suits that have nothing to offer but lie and failed policies.

Look at what the congressional republicans are offering now as an alternative budget to President Obama's budget.

They are offering the exact same ideas that they forced onto the country in the mid 1920's. Cutting the top income tax rate to 25% and freezing spending. We saw what happened from that move, the Great Depression.

because of the fact all the Republican applicants have been as a strategies from conservative because of the fact the Dem applicants have been. basically because of the fact they're categorised Repubs doen't mean they carry real to conservative techniques. Bush tripled the size of government. he grew to become right into a repub, yet certainly no longer conservative. McCain grew to become right into a comedian tale to boot. all the conflict-mongering GOP shills like Guiliani, Huckabee, McCain and the others are a foul misrepresentation of real conservatives, to boot as libs, who stand by the form. I mean c'mon, the PATRIOT ACT, the Iraq conflict, all the ineffective Depts like education and place of start protection. they're systematically and methodically removing our rights (the two factors). unfastened your minds from the phony left-correct paradigm human beings. we are on a fashion highway in the direction of totalitarian worldwide governance that has been supported by each president because of the fact Kennedy. look up Caritas in Veritate, the Pope's recent encyclical which demands a worldwide government. awaken individuals.

It was the economic crisis, the Republicans could not have won because of the past 8 years, feel happy that not a good candidate was nominated and you could save the good candidate for 2012.

Republicans did not have an active campaign.

The economy was the last and biggest straw. A lot of it had to do with

the Iraq War. Also the disregard for the Constitution and civil rights shown by the Bush Administration, and countless diplomatic blunders dealing with other countries who all saw Bush as a clown.

Same reason they lost the 1933 election. They like to destroy the economy every generation.

They've lost touch with the majority. Forcing social agendas, killing the economy, completely ditched fiscal responsibility, refused to be accountable, refused any information about what was going on at all to the American people, lied and were generally hypocrites. That's not much to offer.

Because out of their entire whole party, they offered us Geezer and Gidget as their best choices. They call McCain a maverick but his voting record aligned with GWBush's 95% of the time. The people were sick and tired of GWBush. The Republicans lost states that were theirs for 40 years.

It was a long list of things. Mainly because of Bush,Sarah Palin, and the fact that they have the same old stale ideas.

Celebrity.

There were many studies that showed a majority of people Aggreed with Mccain's plans if Obama's name was on the paper instead of his.

Also Obama appealed to young people. He had hopeful speeches and high goals that appeal to those that aren't grounded in reality.

The vote or die campaigns encouraged young people to vote even if they know nothing about the candidates.

Among citizens that were born in other countires the fear of Repubilicans sending their illegal friends and family home as served as a motivating factor.

And then there were the people that never looked past skin color when deciding to vote for or against.
