I am concerned about pedophile teachers using sex education as a way to "get closer" to these children who really don't know right from wrong when it comes to someone touching their bodies.
What if the teacher uses a student to demonstrate what is appropriate touching and what is not by actually touching and asking how they feel about it, etc.
There are a lot of sick people in the world and this includes teachers, priests and parents. I do think that it is important for children to understand that they have a choice if someone is touching them or worse.
Why can't specially trained police officers - those who are trained to respond to rape and incest - go to the classroom at the beginning of the year and "educate" the children while offering protection? Children are told that something bad will happen if they tell anyone, but an officer is someone that the child doesn't have to see on a daily basis and therefore feel ashamed to tell like they would if their teacher knows about their "secret".
I don't believe this kind of sex education is something that a regular school teacher is qualified for. And I don't believe it should be considered sex education. Unless a person has been specially trained to work with children who have been sexually abused, they should not be in front of a classroom trying to explain it. They could unintentionally make a situation worse for a child who is already in this situation and is being threatened.
Teachers should be teaching reading, writing, math, etc. along with other educational programs that have been proven to make their minds think faster like learning music.
Preventing sexual abuse to children should be a cooperative measure between the law officers and teachers. A child needs to feel safe with the teacher so that they can tell them that they need help - not tell them something they already know.
So no, I do not believe that "sex education" for kindergarten children is appropriate by a school teacher. However, I do think that our local law enforcement should have established programs that they teach to children at every level at the school, just like the fire department needs to teach children what to do in case of a fire. Let the appropriate officials get involved and become a part of the prevention of sexual abuse.
