Do the majority of people who watch the Presidential Debates actually decide who to vote for based on the debates? Aren't the majority of people already decided before hand? Have you ever switched candidates because of a debate?

Many people are actually undecided on who they want to vote for. For them, the debates are a great way to see the candidates speak, instead of having it interpreted through a reporter or writer. While the majority of people might have already decided on who to vote for, the large number of undecideds can swing a vote either way.
I have never switched candidates because of a debate, but that's because I've always had a candidate in mind for whom I was going to vote for. However, I realize that others aren't the same way.

You're correct; most people watching the debates are already somewhat decided. However, I think the debates have been merely reinforcing those decisions for most people. The thing is, you see what you want to see. If you're a McCain supporter, then Barack seems like a young and cocky politician who wants to raise taxes. If you're an Obama supporter, McCain seems like the living dead who repeats lies & then flashes a yellow grin. The approximately 5% of undecided voters may well base their votes on the Presidential Debates.

I agree with you. Most people have already decided. That being said, I don't believe polls because they have been wrong too much in the past. Plus, like all statistics, they can be swayed to say whatever the pollster wants them to say. And, no, I have never switched my vote based on a debate.

I was undecided until last night's debate. I watched McSame fumble around on stage. He made this big fuss over the navy chief petty officer that seemed a bit overdone to me. ( I'm a vet, but I don't like his playing it up to score points ) He didn't have any reasonable answers on the issues, especially on healthcare reform. And he kept using the phrase"my friends" over and over again to the point of nausea ! He looks old and tired, and I just can't see him as my president. So I'm voting for Obama in the hope that he undo everything that the Bush administration has brought on us.

I think the majority have already decided that John McCain is out of touch with the American people, I mean who in their mind would want another 8 years of chaos???

This year, I think that there are more undecided voters, but with a very vocal and polarized crowd on both sides.
I think in the end, Obama's shady past and no leadership or experience will make McCain our choice.
