Do you think McCain is right to say he won't attend the debate if there is no bailout deal by Friday?

Do you think Obama is right to say that we need a presidential debate now more than ever?

I agree with Obama's statement, that as president you need to be able to do more than one thing at a time so McCain should be able to attend debate as well as work on the bailout!

Either McCain really cares about America and wants to fix the economy more than win the election, or hes just doing it to selfishly gain more votes and show the people that his country comes first..... Ideally every president should put the country before themselves, but you and I both know that does not happen.

It seems to me that McCain is just doing it to get attention. We still don't really have a set plan, yet he still showed up for the debate. So this either hurt him or helped him. It is hard to say. I don't know SO much about politics as im sort of new into it and I just started taking a government course in my high school, therefore i cant really say who i would prefer to win.

Anyway, to answer your question boldly, it seemed as if McCain was going to show up to the debate anyway. Its a very important event. Obama is correct. We need debates to straighten out all the false/negative comments that has been out in the media. Especially the misleading ads by each campaign. Some points need to be clarified by each side and it needs to be done soon if we expect to see a fair election. So far it has been nothing but slander....

The VP debates will definitely happen. Theres no reason why it shouldn't. VP's don't really do much anyway....

I think McCain and Sarah Palin are both a joke. First of all there is no way on this green earth that the debate should be postponed till another date. A president should be able to multi-task and do more than one thing at a time. I believe he is just scared of facing Obama because he knows that Obama is well spoken and will speak up when it comes to economic issues and foreign policy and that is what McCain is afraid of.

Look at what he did to David Letterman, he canceled his appearance for the show because why? to deal with this economic crisis. Why didn't Sarah Palin step in for him then? She didn't step in because she is clueless when it comes to the issues at hand. As I was watching in an interview she stated that she doesn't know what a Vice-President does on a day to day basis and she is waiting for someone to explain it to her.

Are you kidding me? Couldn't she have come up with something better to say other than she doesn't know what a V.P. does on a day to day basis. I pray to God that they're not elected into the Whitehouse. If they're we're going to be in a bigger catastrophe then we are already in. I hope Obama exposes him for the liar that he is tonight.

I am pretty much set on who I want to vote for. But I am keeping an open mind and watching the debate because i am scared about this economy. Mccain wants to be present in a situation that he knew would happen and he wants to push back the debate at a time when I need to hear them both. Hes doing more harm than good. Let others take care of it. He hasnt been in Washington leading up to this, than why now? He knew the debate was coming.

It's not a good idea because now is the right time to explain to the American peoples where the candidates stand on the issues . McCain can't walk and chew gum at the same time it's something the next president will have to do on a daily bases. When John McCain held an unexpected news conference mid-Wednesday afternoon he addressed the current economic crisis with direness previously unseen. His campaign would be suspended, he told reporters, in order to work on the bailout legislation in Congress. The debate scheduled with Barack Obama on Friday night, he added, could be postponed.

Observers, critics, even fellow Republicans, were left wondering: where did this sense of urgency come from? After all, it was this past Sunday that McCain hinted on sunday new networks that he would support the bailout ,we have to stop the bleeding only to express deep criticisms on Monday and then admit he hadn't even read the three-page proposal on Tuesday.

I have not had a chance to see it in writing, said McCain . I have to examine it.

The move permeated with political opportunism an attempt by McCain to grab the leadership mantle he did not own and divert attention from poll numbers that were plummeting. On Wednesday morning a Washington Post-ABC poll had McCain trailing Obama 52 percent to 43 percent among likely voters. The internals were even worse: 54 percent of white voters with economic anxiety favored Obama.

When will McCain release his real medical records

Obama and McCain are united states of america Senators. they could the two be in Washington offering regardless of help is mandatory in addressing between the main intense crises in American history. optimistically, McCain is going to Washington in spite of Obama's reaction. the debate is secondary right this moment. This u . s . needs its government to handle this subject and optimistically placed the financial equipment on the splendid music.

No I don't think the debate should be canceled. We are too close to election day, and many people have not made a decision, they are waiting to see how the candidates present themselves and the issues during the debates.

I think that the timing of it is highly suspect. McCain could have said no debate on Monday, he waits until today.

I want to hear what McCain and Obama have to say in something besides a carefully scheduled interview with Katie Couric!

I want the debate to go on. Even though I'm voting for Obama, I still am interested in hearing what McCain has to say. So far, I haven't heard anything from him besides him being a POW and that he's a Maverick. I want to hear him back his stuff up.

But maybe he doesn't have anything, so WHY is he running?

If he can give a speech at the CGI this AM, he can certainly fly to MS for the evening for a debate. Give me a break!

I don't want speeches, I want the debate, I want to hear what they both plan to do to help our economy begin to grow again.

It postpones Obama's impersonaltion of Bill Cllinton..Suave, glib, words with no substance. It postpones the media's opportunity to make McCain like a buffon...Like it did to Bush for the past 8 years.

Debate needed now, more than ever.

I was planning on watching. Maybe they'll broadcast the debate anyway with an empty podium for McCain.

I would deffinately watch the debate. This is a tough one. I think McCain was right to try to deal with the current crisis. However, I do not like what I'm seeing as a "fix" to this. The sollution needs to not cost the taxpayers so much money.

I think Obama is in la la land thinking that we NEED this foreign policy debate right now. I think it should be postponed, but not canceled.

#2

Katrina past by and they didn't get to "show" how patriotic they were

#3

Along come IKE two weeks later

Did they SUSPEND ANYTHING-----NO

did they all run down there and show how Patriotic they were

and help the victims -----NO

#4

Now he come along and wants to DODGE the debates

saying I'm so Patriotic I'd suspend my campaign for the people of America

HORSE HOCKEY

HE IS AFRAID to debate OBAMA

BECAUSE HE KNOWS HE WAS PARTLY THE CAUSE of the FINANCIAL MELTDOWN by preaching constantly We MUST DEREGULATE the financial institutions !!

If SARAH PALIN is SO qualified and JOHN SO BUSY

why doesn't she do what a V.P. would do in case of an EMERGENCY and step in and assume THAT DUTY !!!

SHE SHROUDS herself with secrecy, not letting the public VETT her any more than McCain did!!

NOW McCain hides from us too !!

they need to debate. it's foolish to cancel. if mccain truly wants to be the president he needs to step up against obama and try to prove something. i think mccain realizes he got himself knee deep in sh!t and is trying to get out of this thing!

MacPAIN KNOWS he CAN'T WIN in a debate so he is CHICKENING OUT... that is what he has been doing all along... ACCUSING Obama of doing exactly what he, MacPAIN has been doing... it's called TRANSFERRANCE and it works because the typical gullible AmeriKan is too stupid to realize what a PHONY MacPAID really is.

The Senators have a job to do and are trying to do it.

We all know pretty much where they stand; a debate is easy to postpone and not as necesssary and finding a solution to this huge economic problem.

Yes, I will watch it when it is rescheduled.
