Afghanis, Iraqis, and Israelis don't get to vote in US elections? And is this helping the rumor that he's Muslim when he's spending so much time in a predominantly Muslim part of the world?

As the first responder says, he is trying to shore up his extremely weak record on foreign policy, especially in the Middle East. He basically admitted this week that his previous position on Iraq was wrong, that the situation is improving, and that Iraq will become a stable country. But he still clings to his ridiculous 16 month pullout theory because he doesn't want to admit that he was totally wrong about it.



The surge worked. Bush's plans, albeit after a pretty bungled start, seemingly have come to fruition. Iraq will be able to maintain their own security and will have a democratic government for the first time in about 50 years.
