In my view, this is going to happen:
1. US, Europe will go through a lot of posturing and UN meeting with nothing meaninful to stop Russia.
2. Russia will proceed to crush Georgia resistance.
3. Russia sets up a puppet regime and stops the fighting.
4. World declares victory.
5. Russia controls oil pipeline and has Europe over the barrels on natural gas and crude oil.

It seems to me.

1) US, which is a power house, lost its Strength after the war in Iraq and is currently healing from its actions economically, culturally, and financially.

2) While Russia military is in full strength.

3) The Russians will occupy Georgia and move on.

4) If US can't solve this without conflict. And use of force, this would prompt other parties to get involved and picking either side which may be mirroring US violent actions.

5)And due to the Olympics events in China and the nation's problems, an allies and axis game may happen.

6)Game over, and changes are made to benefit everyone, then move on to get better.

I think your absolutely right, at the very least the Russian Federation is going to annex South Ossetia and Abkhazia. At the most it will remove the pro western government with one that is more friendly with it. Russia is in a position to do what it wants, no one, not the US not NATO not even the UN is in any position to do anything about it. Russia is making a bold statement to the west that it will not tolerate any western influence in its back yard. I'm surprised Russia didn't accuse Georgia of building WMD's to legitimizes its invasion then just throw up its hands afterwards and say it got faulty Intel. Now that would have been genius ;-)

Russia is NOT the aggressor here, Georgia, who has been receiving training from the UNITED STATES, has attacked South Ossetia, and actually killed a number of Russian Soldiers, perhaps it appears that Russia has overreacted, but Georgia have attacked Russian assets. What precise involvement from the 1600+ US Marines and Special Forces there providing "training exercises," who can say? Ask yourself what the US would do in Russia's shoes?

Western weaponry has been seen among the Georgian ranks, it appears NATO has been arming the Georgians.

I think this is the start of World War 3, personally, I really do.

Russia has more military might than Georgia and will therefore conquer the province. All of your items seem correct, except I am not sure what you mean by no. 4.

In how it plays out is largely based on how it started. As an old Goldwater, Reagan, Pat Buchanan Republican I know of leaders who devised a less interventionist, prudent foreign policy. Bush's wrongly based pre-emptive strike on a broken down country that posed no threat to us set a bad precedent. After aggressively wrecking Iraq America cannot lecture Russia on proper military action. In addition, the unnecessary sideshow in Iraq has physically limited our ability to deal with this situation.

Similarly the police wars in Kosovo and Bosina, which I also opposed from the start, compromises the UN and NATO. Such international bodies should have been working for peace instead of starting wars. After such action they lost their moral claim as peacekeepers--by being again launchers of war.

The lessons should be learned as the Russian and Georgia war plays out. The UN should work for peace. The United States should only carefully enter war, when we are really threatened. The broad internationallism of Father Bush and especially Baby Bush has badly hurt the US in its international influence.

Oh my God. How many times those questions will be asked again?

It is highly unprofitable for Russia annex Georgia or put marionette regime (however Saakashvili is an U.S. puppet).

Also, funny to listen georgian cowards fleeing with almost light speed from S. Ossetia and reporting Russian forces taking one city by another in time when Reuter reporter says that no Russian soldier or tank where in Gori - town near S. Ossetia from where Georgian strike on Tskhinval begun and which is reported by many Georgian officials incl. Saakashvili taken by Russia. Maybe Russian soldiers are cloaked like Starcraft dark Templars and soon entire Protoss warfleet will come to eradicate entire planet? Boooo

I think Russia will give Georgia a real hammering then pull out. They will give their allies in South Ossetia a boost and bigger reason to push for absorbtion into "Mother Russia". Georgia will not then dare to assert their authority into the breakaway states. USA and EU will not get involved if they can help it, given the current economic meltdown (as well as fear of nuclear options - the west would win but at what cost?). Ironically, Russia will not push the matter futher themselves as now they rely on free market capitalism - their stock market has dropped already as foreign investors withdraw. Hopefully peace will endue after this.

sure, it does type of play into Russia's invasion. it is likewise because of the fact Russia desires to apply the time now because of the fact that Georgia isn't area of NATO......yet. Regardless, NATO needs to make stronger up and truthfully placed returned its Anti-Russian rules earlier the breakup of the Soviet Union. I worry yet another chilly conflict, adult adult males. Blame ex-KGB Putin. @ Otto Von Bismarck: sure, that's authentic we are in Iraq for the countless oil factors. isn't that what conflict is approximately? combating for administration of factors? whether, we are assisting the Iraqis combat Al Qaida and develop a clean Iraq after Saddam Hussein's brutal reign. they are like a clean Saudi Arabia, now. in basic terms look at how their forces are chasing militants out of Iraq devoid of US help. God bless the Iraqis. i do no longer see Russia doing that for the time of Georgia. they are freeing South Ossetians? useful, perhaps. however the international won't understand that because of the fact that Russia in basic terms single handedly invaded a rustic.

I agree with you. I suspect a possible candidate to head a puppet-government might be the former Ajarian (Muslim region in Southwest Georgia) ruler Aslan Abashidze, currently living in Russia following his overthrow by the Georgian govt - a decision supported by the people of that region in subsequent elections for their local parliament. Like with Ramzan Kadyrov in Chechnya, I suspect the puppet regime may collaborate in the genocide of their own people. The Russian state-owned channel Russia Today are absolutely hysterical in their mythmaking about "genocide" by Georgia.

This whole thing was set up by the US,western europe(NATO) and Israel years ago. The goal is to get the US yet involved into another war "of agression" against Russia, but guess what, the ultimate goal is not what most people think, this time, the US won't survive the conflict, yeah, mark my words; Gas price is gona go down to $50 per barrel, and Russia will open many oil fields (as well as indonesia) and flood the market with oil;The dollar is gona go bust, the US (and most of the western countries)are gona go thru a depression, the US suffering most of it.

We are being sacrificed by our own leaders,or should i say"misleaders",and yeah, this has been set up years ago

Check out this little bit of history:

Seems people are more concerned with the Olympics and John Edwards' shenanigans, so likely, Russia will go ahead and decimate Georgia.

Georgian Minister of Defense is Jewish and holds double citizenship (Israeli-Georgian).There are more Jewish Ministers in Gergian governement. Israel was helping to train Georgian soldiers and delivered some airplanes and other armory.

Looks like Israel controls not only US government but other's contries too.

P.S: Russia will get pissed and bomb "Arrogant" Israel after all.

Russia is mighty enough not to have anyone interfere with her designs.

Georgia is done for. Armenia is next. Taiwan must be trembling.

the oil that flows true this georgian pipeline, is russian oil, so naturally the russians want full control over that pipeline.
