Question:
Roll call vote at Democratic convention

If Hillary's name is submitted at the convention and a roll call vote is demanded, how exactly would that work? Isn't a state by state roll call already called? Would it instead be a roll call of all delegates at the convention or maybe just super-delegates? Seems like that could be awfully divisive.....Thanks to anyone who can clarify this for me!

If there is a roll call and all voted are counted, then no one can say it wasn't a fair nomination. As it is the democratic party is already divided. A roll call is the only chance to bring it together.

Roll call votes are a traditional part of the Democratic convention, this is nothing new at all. It has been going on for decades. The media is simply spinning, exaggerating, and misrepresenting an insignificant internal debate within the Democratic party about whether a roll call vote serves the interests of Clinton, Obama, and the party overall. There is nothing necessarily divisive about a roll call vote, in fact (in recent decades) they're typically an expression of party unity whereby the losing candidate gets a smaller % of roll call votes than were actually won during the primary elections. Part of what concerns Clinton supporters about a roll call is the potential perception that she earned a smaller % of delegates than she really won during the elections. There is also the very small minority of Clinton supporters and, er, Rush Limbaugh fans, claiming Clinton might actually win the nomination through the roll call vote, but that is highly unlikely to occur.

With Obama dropping in the polls she just might rescue the party from disaster.
