Questions about Bernie Sanders???

Okay I'm a pretty right-winged conservative. But lately I've been reading on Bernie Sanders and have been intrigued by his goals. He seems so genuine. Okay my questions are..
If he wins, how much power will he even have???
He supports free higher education and healthcare but is it even realistic? Where will he get the money from? It would cost A LOT.
My personal opinion is that I don't want to pay for other people's education. Health care I can kind of understand as a 'basic human right', but not college.
He wants to 'take the money out of politics'. How does he plan to do this? Doesn't seem plausible.
He wants to raise taxes on the rich. This is crazy. They already pay an unfair amount (most of them) while over 40 percent of people do not pay income taxes. One set percent across everyone is fair. Period.
He wants to get rid of private prisons to make the legal system less crooked, etc. I love this idea. But how?

I guess my overall question is how is he planning to accomplish these goals? Don't you think he would have lots of opposition.

It's God's Money.Health care we benefit from as indivdiuals but education also benefits society. The way it is supposed to be. Sometimes with all the political correctness it seems the campuses are pretty stuffy. Part of the problem in asking where it will come from is failure to reckon with the magnitude of the economy. The fact that we can wage continual war (whether right or wrong) shows that we are not that strapped. And it is not just war. Anyway, I would not want anything that would cost, but only that would profit. us. This is an economy which you & I may not really see in our own lives. California used to have free higher education through its state colleges and universities. If we are talking about socialism we ought to be talking in the past tense. State education is no longer free by any means, but requires large loans. Why should it have been set up to be free, but then politicos can overturn that and make it costly? So, in California universal free education would be a return to normalcy.

But anyway, to get to your point, I have no expectation that he would accomplish anything. What I know from experience is that campaign issues never turn out to be relevant anyway.

That's why it's fairyland--with Trump the biggest fairy. But Donald Trump could win the presidency if he got a haircut.

By reigning in banks and installing anti-monopoly laws. Eliminating citizens united ruling. Taxing hedge funds. Closing tax loopholes that allow over 500 major corporations from paying any taxes at all. By taxing capital gains as income. By using tax rates user above posted. Bernie has voted 100% of the time for American working class. Factcheck it in Congressional records. No other candidate supports workers like Bernie. He will have the power to sway democrats in congress. He can sign into law or veto bills. A lot of what he proposes would be very difficult or impossible to get through congress and cost so much that an executive order would be close to useless.

It depends on your definition of realistic. It will raise taxes for the upper class to pay for it.

He wants to Overturn Citizens United. Basically he wants to put limits on campaign contributions and outlaw PACS.

He wants to get ride of private prisons because he thinks a goverment run system would be less corrupt. Prison reform is desperately needed but Bernie's plan to get government involved isn't a viable solution.



A similar candidate for the right wing is Rand Paul. He wants Prison reform, to reevaluate drug laws, to shrink government and spending.

In my (Republican) state, we have 4 year scholarships for anyone with a good high school GPA, funded by a lottery. My (Republican) governor has now instituted a program that pays for 2 years of community college or vo-tech education for anyone who doesn't qualify for the 4 year scholarship, paid for by the lottery. People who won't pay a penny more in taxes will happily pour money down the sinkhole of a lottery. Education is an investment- it pays off in increased GDP.
