Question:
Will the next 4 years be deadlock in Washington DC?
2008-05-25 09:54:35 UTC
With the wild Ethanol policy/use of corn to create fuel, food prices have increased. Of course, the increasing gasoline prices have helped food prices increase as well.. Transportation costs for all goods have increased as gasoline prices go up. Do you think that the increase in food and gasoline prices will sweep Republicans from Congress this coming November?

And McCain will win the Presidency because he has the most experience to guide the USA in this turbulent world.

Obama is a smart guy but he is very liberal and has little experience to be President of the USA. I would imagine that many Republicans applaud Obama pushing Hillary aside.

Thus, with a Democrat Congress and McCain as President, the next 4 years will be deadlock?

What do you think? Will this happen?

I don't think the deadlock will be quite as bad as we are seeing now. John McCain has been a Senator for quite some time and knows how to compromise. He's probably the best person for trying to work with a hostile Congress.

I think the Democrats will rule Congress for the next 8 years. Heard about 3 Republicans losing their seats recently? The Democratic Congress and a Democrat President will have their honeymoon over many years, which might be good for the country for a "change."

I fully expect deadlock and welcome it wholeheartedly. Since the Congress will no doubt be under Democratic control, the only way we would avoid deadlock is to elect a Democratic President. And if we had Dems controlling both the Congress and the White House, we would be taxed-and-spent into oblivian, and we would all be reading the Koran and praying five times a day within just a few short years.

there is an excellent chance more will get done during the next administration...boy george and his incompetence has pretty much destroyed the gop and put the nation on the brink of collapse. Any democrat will be better than any republican at this point, and no, i was not a democrat back in 2000, or '04, but the gop has made me one now. History will record bush's term as the worst ever in our history.

No, bipartisanship is McCain's strongest asset. He is famous for working with Democrats to get things done. We'll be fine with him as president.

It's really a perfect scenario for Hillary supporters, too, especially those who are pro-choice. McCain will likely be a one-term president because of his age and because our problems can't be solved in 4 years, including Iraq. If Hillary ran again in 2012, she'd probably win the presidency, knowing what we'll know about 2008.

Even though McCain is ostensibly pro-life, he won't be able to appoint anyone to the Supreme Court without a majority of the Senate to confirm, which he'll never get. His statement about appointing pro-life judges is just political posturing ... he knows he'll do nothing of the kind. Pro-choice women should vote McCain with confidence!

The group, Republicans for Choice, supports McCain.

What makes you think the Dem's will hold Congress?

Their job approval rating is way worse than Bush's. (See references)

I think that, like you, McCain will become president.

I don't believe that the Democrats will maintain control of congress. Look at Minnesota - Al Fraken against Norm Colman? Come On, I think they have learned that the novelty of electing a Celebrity like "The Bod" is not worth it. Besides, Franken is behind on his taxes.

As for ethanol, its an energy delivery method, not an alternative fuel. Check out my last reference that explains the fallacy of Ethanol.

"Experience" is the last thing we need in Washington. Politics is the only 'business' in which "experience' works against you. The more "experience" you have, the more corrupt you become and the more open you are to opportunities of malfeasance.

Whoever is our next President will have his (or her) hands full trying to clean up the mess that Bush has made of this country. -RKO- 05/25/08

Silly Boy, Obama is going to wipe the floor with that little old man. And in his first 100 days his first duty will be compromising with other old (WHITE-MEN) crowded around him. You have no idea whats coming down the pipeline for U.S. citizens who have allowed Washington to sell our future. There's a storm coming and deadlock wont be tolerated, the powers that be are afraid to say recession, can you say Depression.

I think Obama as the US President will have a very tough job to clean the mess Bush and his friends made in the white house, Iraq, and the world.

It appears that Obama will be president enjoying a democrat majority in congress. I truly don't see the Republican Party being viable anymore.
