Prior to the 2000 Republican Primaries, how well was John McCain doing in straw polls, etc.? Sources would be great.

Prior to the primaries, I don't remember him doing that well. Bush really sewed up a lot of support very early on, and McCain made a push later once the primaries got started.

I worked for Bradley on the other side, but as you may remember there was some cooperation (a couple of joint appearances) between him and McCain. Both were considered dark horses; it was a all but a foregone conclusion that Bush and Gore would be the nominees.

As far as numbers go, I can't really help you aside from knowing where to look. The library ought to have news paper articles. Start with the Washington Post and NY Times, and follow that up with USA Today and the Wall Street Journal. I know the NYT has "Times Select" and you can search on the internet if you're willing to pay.

Not sure on the exacts on this either, But I'll vote for him...one previous answer calls him a warmonger. I think He has the aptitude and guts to get done what needs to be done and build on it. He's given for his country - the hanoi hilton was no vacation. Having done 2 tours over in "mideast" I can appreciate those who understand the problems and sacrifices that are made while others sit Idle and are more worried about the next sale at Macy's..

Support the troops...Get it done and get em home....but support em.
