Palin kept her campaign promises by reducing her own salary, as well as reducing property taxes by 60%.

Sound to me like she is for the people.

Well for starters she did not launch an all out war on millions of Americans on behalf of the Credit Card companies like Biden.

Highlights of Governor Palin's tenure include a successful push for an ethics bill, and also shelving pork-barrel projects supported by fellow Republicans. Palin successfully killed the Bridge to Nowhere project that had become a nationwide symbol of wasteful earmark spending. "Alaska needs to be self-sufficient, she says, instead of relying heavily on 'federal dollars,' as the state does today."

In 2007, Palin had an approval rating often in the 90s Palin's tenure is noted for her independence from big oil companies, while still promoting resource development. Palin has announced plans to create a new sub-cabinet group of advisors, to address climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions within Alaska. Shortly after taking office, Palin rescinded thirty-five appointments made by Murkowski in the last hour of his administration, including the appointment by Murkowski of his former chief of staff Jim Clark to the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority. Clark later pled guilty to conspiring with a defunct oil-field-services company to channel money into Frank Murkowski's re-election campaign In response to high oil and gas prices, and in response to the resulting state government budget surplus, Palin proposed giving Alaskans $100-a-month energy debit cards. She also proposed providing grants to electrical utilities so that they would reduce customers' rates. She subsequently dropped the debit card proposal, and in its place she proposed to send Alaskans $1,200 directly and eliminate the gas taxPalin's first veto was used to block legislation that would have barred the state from granting benefits to the partners of gay state employees. In effect, her veto granted State of Alaska benefits to same-sex couples.

Shortly after becoming governor, Palin canceled a contract for the construction on an 11-mile (18-kilometer) gravel road outside of Juneau to a mine

In June 2007, Palin signed into law a $6.6 billion operating budget—the largest in Alaska's history. At the same time, she used her veto power to make the second-largest cuts of the construction budget in state history. The $237 million in cuts represented over 300 local projects, and reduced the construction budget to nearly $1.6 billion

You can Google and/or Yahoo, if you can see over your initial prejudice. I'm sure you'll find more accomplishments. And what is with this focus on Commander and Chief? There is a great deal more to the job, and with the exception of our actual former military leader presidents, name ANY who were qualified for that job. They SURROUND themselves with the experts.

It's not a felony to operate a microcosm of federal government, which is the job of all 50 governors. You may not be finding anything good because you really don't want to.

Palin appears pretty clean please see the link below, if you make threats on your father in laws life as a public servant you have to be let go and investigated. Remember the unions are paid to make claims true or false they are there to protect their members. Ask why a floor sweeper at general motors makes 35 dollars an hour with a hefty pension and benefits that answers the question of why they would make these claims.

McCain is nothing to speak of, Palin on the other hand would bring fiscal responsibility back to our government and maybe we can put an end to sixteen years of monetary abuse by our representatives. This is a governor who sold the private plane of her predecessor lowered taxes and sent the check back to congress (democratically controlled) for the bridge to no where ( republican senator pork spending).

BP stand for British Petroleum a foreign owned oil company. Alaska makes billions from the sale of oil within our own borders. If you want an energy plan drill at home use the 1.5 trillion barrels of oil in the shale within our own country and let the arabs drink their's .We can have a policy on oil to drill here let the government take royalties. Stop spending it on art's programs and use the billions do develop real technology not food to energy which is great for farmers but is one of the real causes of inflation.

Obama-nomics will cause real inflation you cant give give give without taking. If you tax 100 Percent of the top tax bracket in this country you will only have enough money to run our government for 56 days. WoW Mr.Obama great plan.

Palin has experience the governor has more duties than a senator who gets to pick a few issues and learn them she has controll over all state government. Obama has had approximatly 140 days in the senate about enough time to vote no on Iraq Kudos one out of one isnt bad.

Let me get this straight: Gov. Sarah Palin, in her first term,

- challenged a corrupt system and passed a landmark ethics reform bill

- used her veto and cut budgetary spending

- She put a stop to the 'bridge to nowhere' that would have cost taxpayers $400 million dollars."

- Lowered property taxes

- Taxed oil companies excessive profits

- Suspended the gas tax

- Applied the surplus and balanced the budget

- Challenged corrupt Republicans and drove them out of office

- Has a 90% approval rating

And some people say she is unqualified.

I would like to know, as well. Every time I ask, someone says "look it up." When I do, all I find are questions from other people asking, and others just saying "look it up, it's more than Obama."

Here's Obama's list, in three years on the national level:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_bills_sponsored_by_Barack_Obama_in_the_United_States_Senate

Here's Palin's list, when you search Sarah Palin experience:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&channel=s&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&q=sarah+palin+experience&btnG=Search

Nothing but opinions or speculation. Nothing official.

So, if you go by that, with people telling you "look it up," and then you do and find nothing, then I guess you have your answer.

She has no experience.

Thanks guys, for all the help!

there is this little count of a risk abuse of potential she is being investigated for: examine to start into no count if Governor Sarah Palin abused her potential in firing Public secure practices Commissioner Walt Monegan by utilising Corey Allen-youthful, CBS 11 information Reporter Article final as much as date: 07/28/2008 06:forty 9:fifty one PM AKDT Lawmakers will hire somebody interior of a week to look into no count if Governor Sarah Palin abused her potential in firing Public secure practices Commissioner Walt Monegan. I love the whole "she's being investigated" stuff.

On July 11, 2008, Governor Palin dismissed Walter Monegan as Commissioner of Public Safety and instead offered him a position as executive director of the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, which he subsequently turned down.[40][41] Monegan alleged shortly after his dismissal that it may have been partly due to his reluctance to fire an Alaska State Trooper, Mike Wooten, who had been involved in a divorce and child custody battle with Palin's sister, Molly McCann.[42] In 2006, before Palin was governor, Wooten was briefly suspended for ten days for threatening to kill McCann's (and Palin's) father, tasering his 11-year-old stepson (at the stepson's request), and violating game laws. After a union protest, the suspension was reduced to five days.[43]

Governor Palin asserts that her dismissal of Monegan was unrelated to the fact that he had not fired Wooten, and asserts that Monegan was instead dismissed for not adequately filling state trooper vacancies, and because he "did not turn out to be a team player on budgeting issues."[44] Palin acknowledges that a member of her administration, Frank Bailey, did contact the Department of Public Safety regarding Wooten, but both Palin and Bailey say that happened without her knowledge and was unrelated to her dismissal of Monegan.[44] Bailey was put on leave for two months for acting outside the scope of his authority as the Director of Boards and Commissions.

In response to Palin's statement that she had nothing to hide, in August 2008 the Alaska Legislature hired Steve Branchflower to investigate Palin and her staff for possible abuse of power surrounding the dismissal, though lawmakers acknowledge that "Monegan and other commissioners serve at will, meaning they can be fired by Palin at any time."[45] The investigation is being overseen by Democratic State Senator Hollis French, who says that the Palin administration has been cooperating and thus subpoenas are unnecessary.[46] The Palin administration itself was the first to release an audiotape of Bailey making inquiries about the status of the Wooten investigation.[44][47]

Wooten and the police union alleged that the governor had improperly released his employment files in his divorce case. However, McCann's attorney released a signed waiver from Wooten demonstrating that Wooten had authorized the release of his files through normal discovery procedures.[48][49]

The election has now turned to:

Biden Vs McCain

Obama vs Palin

She has been a mayor and even more important she has been a governor. The experience that a governor takes with them to a campaign is by far more important than a Senator, who has never run a state. That qualifies her. Gov. Reagan. Gov Bush and many others. That was what this election year lacked.

She has nothing strong to stand on period. Everyone is trying hard to make her up into something when she didn't even exist before today. She is the Governor of Alaska. Who even hears of anything in Alaska? I could govern Alaska. Its all that pull McCain wants to drill all over that place. Don't forget that BP husband of hers. Oh and yeah she squats to pee so that will get all the weak Hilary supporters. Just a ploy. So stupid.

Look the same place where you found Obama's accomplishments. He gave a great speech in 2002.

She is the govenor of the state of Alaska and a former mayor.

She is under investigation for trying to use her power to get a bad cop fired. The republicans welcome scrutiny of this story.
Im listening
2008-08-29 09:59:29 UTC
you wont she is a 2yr Governor who is under the scrutiny of an investigation by the Republican-controlled legislature into the possibility that she ordered the dismissal of Alaska's public safety commissioner because he would not fire her former brother-in-law as a state trooper. so i don't see any qualifications except for being a bully so she is definitely republican

Well, it did take some digging to find out Obama's accomplishments since 1991 (when he graduated from Harvard Law School second in his class) but here's a few (the KidCare is not going to go over well with people against healthcare reform). I had to wallow through propaganda and shallow accusations first. Here's what I dug up:

Senator Obama's fight for universal children's health care in Illinois. Uninsured low to mid-income working families/single parents can now get medical coverage for their kids at low monthly payment.

Obama passed legislation with Republican Senator Jim Talent to give gas stations a tax credit for installing E85 ethanol refueling pumps. The tax credit covers 30 percent of the costs of switching one or more traditional petroleum pumps to E85, which is an 85 percent ethanol/15 percent gasoline blend.

After a number of inmates on death row were found innocent, Senator Obama worked with law enforcement officials to require the videotaping of interrogations and confessions in all capital cases.

His first law was passed with Republican Tom Coburn, a measure to rebuild trust in government by allowing every American to go online and see how and where every dime of their tax dollars is spent.

Obama created the Illinois Earned Income Tax Credit for low-income working families in 2000 and successfully sponsored a measure to make the credit permanent in 2003. The law offered about $105 million in tax relief over three years.

Obama joined forces with former U.S. Sen. Paul Simon (D-IL) to pass the toughest campaign finance law in Illinois history. The legislation banned the personal use of campaign money by Illinois legislators and banned gifts from lobbyists. Before the law was passed, one organization ranked Illinois worst among 50 states for its campaign finance regulations.

As a member of the Veterans' Affairs Committee, Senator Obama has fought to help Illinois veterans get the disability pay they were promised, while working to prepare the VA for the return of the thousands of veterans who will need care after Iraq and Afghanistan.

He traveled to Russia with Republican Dick Lugar to begin a new generation of non-proliferation efforts designed to find and secure deadly weapons around the world.

Obama has been a leading advocate for protecting the right to vote, helping to reauthorize the Voting Rights Act and leading the opposition against discriminatory barriers to voting.

In the U.S. Senate, Obama introduced the STOP FRAUD Act to increase penalties for mortgage fraud and provide more protections for low-income homebuyers, well before the current subprime crisis began.

Obama sponsored legislation to combat predatory payday loans, and he also was credited with lobbied the state to more closely regulate some of the most egregious predatory lending practices.

Barack Obama introduced the Patriot Employer Act of 2007 to provide a tax credit to companies that maintain or increase the number of full-time workers in America relative to those outside the US; maintain their corporate headquarters in America; pay decent wages; prepare workers for retirement; provide health insurance; and support employees who serve in the military.

Obama worked to pass a number of laws in Illinois and Washington to improve the health of women. His accomplishments include creating a task force on cervical cancer, providing greater access to breast and cervical cancer screenings, and helping improve prenatal and premature birth services.

Obama has introduced and helped pass bipartisan legislation to limit the abuse of no-bid federal contracts.

Obama and Senator Feingold (D-WI) took on both parties and proposed ethics legislation that was described as the "gold standard" for reform. It was because of their leadership that ending subsidized corporate jet travel, mandating disclosure of lobbyists' bundling of contributions, and enacting strong new restrictions of lobbyist-sponsored trips became part of the final ethics bill that was signed into law.

Everyone seems to be jumping on his "Change" bandwagon. IMHO, he does have the record to back it up.

I think Ms Palin's qualifications are listed next to Mr. Bush's. If you find his, you'll find hers

Not that I'm out to defend the Republicans, of all people...but McCain is hardly qualified to address matters of women's bodies, single parenthood, poverty, and minority issues. Neither has any president thus far, and we've elected them all.

Here's the list:

Soccer mom

Mayor of small town

1-term governor of a sparsely populated state.

And it's HILARIOUS that people are on here saying she has more experience than Obama! There's something seriously lacking from that list, as in federal experience. I thought Republicans were strong on national security - can you imagine her trying to negotiate with Kim Jong Il if he had a missile pointed at us? What qualifies her to do that??
