Question:
Do You Think Environmentalists Are Celebrating That 100 Airports Are Closing?
2008-06-30 21:13:52 UTC
Our economy is quickly falling apart from high gas prices. People can't afford summer vacations, therefore will put vacation areas out of business etc. Dems in Congress argue to protect our environment we need to spend more money on alternatives than on drilling then also are telling us Oil.Companies need to drill where they have leases (where they can't find oil) Still that would do the same damage anyway! So why not drill where we have oil for sure? Its so dumb! They're arguement makes NO SENSE! We won't have alternatives for 20-30 years what do we do until then? INSANE ! China will be drilling up our oil soon, we need to drill now before that happens! Dems In Congress are UP TO SOMETHING! They will not even ALLOW a vote on drilling! 100 Airports will be closing in America soon, thats alot of JOBS! Car manufacturing plants are CLOSING already! Gas prices are still going up! Who is responsible - CONGRESS! Bush says DRILL IN ANWAR DRILL OFF THE COAST!

Your information is flawed and you don't back it up. McCain is either an idiot who can't remember where he stands on the issues or he is the biggest liar in the world. He has even voted against bills that he cosponsored. Any one with an ounce of intelligence can see through him.

Dude, only really crappy electric cars go 20.

45 is pretty normal now for a 230 mile range plug in NEV.

If we don't have alternatives for 20-30 years we're screwed anyway don't you think.

Besides, what do you mean by "china" would be drilling up "our" oil? Believe me, it's no better to have Exxon and Haliberton drilling up "our" oil. You think if China or India didn't give them a better price for it they wouldn't be shipping out oil over there with a quickness and be laughing at us for letting them raze our land just to take the profits themselves?

I have never met a true environmentalist or even a true animal's right person in all my 61 years. Individuals I have met that claim to be environmentalist work in large offices that suck up a lot of energy and live in large homes the suck up a lot of energy. I have never met a animal's right person that did not wear leather belts or shoes and many even have leather car seats.

Yes, I believe many environmentalist support the closing of the airports. And I believe they support smaller homes, less material ownership. If we move back to the post war era, we used less energy, 28 % of rural homes were without electrity, less than 2% of the population went more than 100 miles on vacation. A large per cent of the population grew there own food. Not because they wanted to, be because they could not afford not to.

I keep hearing oil price are high because there is more demand than supply. However, I have yet to hear a single country that has ran short on gasoline or it is being rationed.

There are permits to drill & they are not drilling when are you guys going to get it through your head........they are lying to you. Google permits, oil.

They have permits to drill but they won't.

Oil companies are NOT DRILLING 2-GUESSES WHY AND ONE IS NOT RIGHT:

a group of Democratic lawmakers introduced legislation that would compel oil companies to drill in lands they are now leasing from the federal government.

"Oil corporations are trying to take control of as much land now during the oil-friendly Bush administration years, but are holding off on drilling until the price of oil soars to $200 or $300 a barrel so they can make even greater profits," Rep. Maurice Hinchey, a New York Democrat and a sponsor of the drilling bill.

The bill would force oil companies to pay fees for leased lands that go unused. The fees would increase over time. Republicans argue current law already requires oil companies to "use or lose" the lands they lease.

probably - and environmentalists have to accept a large share of the blame for blocking 1 construction of oil refineries 2 drilling off shore 3 building nuclear power plants 4 use of coal 5 drilling for natural gas 6 recovery of oil in shale - all of which makes us more dependent on foreign countries. and causes higher prices at the pump and elsewhere. cuba will soon be drilling for oil that could have been ours if we allowed drilling offshore florida.
2008-07-01 04:21:41 UTC
The oil companies need to be broken up. Monopolies and cartels are illegal and that's what the Sherman Anti-Trust Act was for! For breaking the law, these monopolies should be broken up into pieces and sold off in public auctions! Watch how fast the new owners take advantage of all those oil drilling permits that the oil companies were sitting on to keep prices high!

Hooray!!

FYI, no one, including McCain, thinks that oil will be flowing in a year, it takes longer than that just to build 1 new platform, let alone new refineries, the shortage of which is a large part of the problem. You just made that one up.

When things like this happen it creates an opportunity for other businesses. I think it is time for us to create a high speed rail system. They have one in Japan and for all you environmentalists it is green. It runs off of electric magnetic current.
2008-07-01 04:21:28 UTC
I agree with you, common sense has been thrown away by these wacko environmentalists in Washington...Its all about controling the masses. If we are broke, than they have the power, its shameful! Do you have a link about 100 airports being closed?

I must say, i agree that Congress is responsible for the higher gas prices, through the enactment of the "Enron loophole" that allows unregulated speculation in oil futures. McCain actually voted against its enactment, and openly spoke out against it, but now that the money is rolling in, he has been strangely silent on the issue and in fact has voted against amendments that would close this loophole and return gas prices to pre-insanity levels. He now evades questions about it and has the wife of one of its sponsors on his hand-picked team of economic advisers. One thing about McCain, he knows how to switch sides to whomever is winning!

I don't blame McCain for being indifferent to the environment. Chances are he will be dead of old age in two or three years.

We already have alternatives, and if we actually invest in more and better alternatives, we can actually get them. If we don't invest, then yes, we won't get that stuff for 20 to 30 years.
