I've always thought of myself as an open minded person, and I am. But whenever I hear or see anybody state that; "bush is a great president and he has done a great job", my immediate reaction to the person is, "ARE YOU MENTALLY CHALLENGED OR WHAT!?"

Does this reaction make me a narrow minded person?

serious answers only.

Judging whether or not somebody has done a good job as president is very difficult to do.

What is best is subjective. If you value the things Bush has done then you see him as a a good president. If you oppose these things then you don't.

You have to judge against circumstances. Clinton enjoys a good reputation, but he also enjoyed a relatively benign period in American history. How he would have reacted to stronger challenges can never really be known.

The actual effect of a president's actions is also hard to judge, they play out over time. For instance we still deal with the coup in 1953 in Iran and the decisions in Washington that supported it.

I don't think yours' is a narrow minded reaction as much as it is a gut reaction. It does take a lot of perspective to see arguments from more than one viewpoint. You might try asking others why they believe as they do. You will get some uninformed answers, but you might also find some very reasoned arguments and ideas you hadn't considered.

I think maybe you should reconsider your view of self. Have you checked the approval rating of congress lately? That said a great president and a popular president are two different issues.

President Lincoln was hated by many most of his time in office.

Bush has had many problems to deal with the majority of which were not caused by him. As many Democrats supported the Iraq war and the removal of Sadam. Americans & their short attention span do a real injustice to rational thought at times.

You like K/O, MSNBC, checked GE stock lately?

Yes it does, when you think there is something wrong with a person backing a person like Bush and then think it's a mental disorder its a problem you have not the other person. You are very narrow minded, not because you may not like Bush or respect him, it's because you don't respect others peoples choices. After all we are talking a politician not a damn murderer for god's sake.

I wouldn't say narrow minded. It's easy to forget to take time to look at it from the other's perspective. I'd say, maybe frustrated, or impatient. But not narrow minded.

As for me, I always get excited when I see a Bush supporter, because they are so rare! It's kind of like seeing JD Salinger at a coffee shop. You never see it, so you have to pay it the attention it's due. I feel like interviewing Bush supporters if I ever see them.

Where would we be if Gore was elected in 2000 and Kerry in 2004? How do you think their leadership skills would have greatly improved our security, our nation? Would Gore have sent us to war with Iraq? Would he have wanted to liberate the Iraqis? Would Kerry have stimulated the economy for a boon time? Would he have improved things with the economic climate? Would he have taken money from Freddie Mac like Obama did, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank did? How is Bush the worse?

Nope, I know what you mean, except, I don't claim to be open minded, I deal with facts, and they usually sway one way, or the other.

Your sentiment just makes you hypocritical, based on claiming to be open minded.

It might. You have bought into the liberal media bias of George W Bush. He could do nothing right according to them and they looked for every opportunity to cast him in a poor light. I would say you have been swayed by what you have heard about him. Much of his presidency was well received by many despite the media but you would never know it.

You might ask yourself if you immediately believed everything that was said about Bush. If so you might be narrow minded.

No, We each have our own opinion...this is still a free country the last time I looked. Asking if supporters are mentally challenged is narrow minded though.

you are entitled to your own opinions. remember that it wasn't only Bush's fault with this mess we're in. 2 wars, (where is Bin Laden?), economy, patriot act (with violation of privacy), etc. his cabinet also has alot of explaining to do as well.
