No he's not on there he's a shyster double-talking lawyer, inexperienced candidate, and vicious manipulator, who should prove himself in the Senate, not use his deep pockets to smear Hillary 24/7 and undermine a Democrat win!

Great Question and Documentation ;-)

You won't see it listed as either for or against in that vote. He wasn't serving as a U.S. Congressman at the start of the Iraq War (a.k.a. Operation Freedom) Operation Freedom began March 20,2003 and Obama did not start in the Senate until January 3, 2005. Now since becoming a member of the U.S. Congress, Obama has voted against funding the war ( unless that also included a timeline for troop withdrawls). So basically his voting record has been one of-"I will fund the war only if we stop and pull out, regardless of whether the job is done or not." I guess that could be interpreted as not voting for the war.

He never said he voted against the war, he said he wouldn't have voted for the war and opposed the war from the beginning.

Delivered on Wednesday, October 2, 2002 by Barack Obama, Illinois State Senator, at the first high-profile Chicago anti-Iraq war rally (organized by Chicagoans Against War in Iraq) at noon in Federal Plaza in Chicago, Illinois; at the same day and hour that President Bush and Congress announced their agreement on the joint resolution authorizing the Iraq War, but over a week before it was passed by either body of Congress:

"I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a US occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences. I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of al-Qaeda.

I am not opposed to all wars. I’m opposed to dumb wars."

You're right that Obama was not in the U.S. Senate. Although he opposed the war from the beginning, we do not know for sure, how he would have voted.

Nevertheless, McCain thinks we should still be there. So between McCain and Obama, the choice is clear.

Obama is not there because he was merely an IL State Senator! Obama continues to tout his decision about Iraq even though he was NOT in a position to case a vote. Senator Jay Rockefeller of WV has aided Barack Obama in deceiving the people of this country...Jay Rockefeller needs to be voted OUT!

Obama was not a US senator at that time, but he did say he would have voted against it if he could have voted, depending on which way the wind was blowing on the day of the vote.~

He was not in the US Senate at the time of the vote, therefore his name would not be on the list.

it is clear that you have not been paying attention at all, else you wouldn't ask this silly question. was Obama in the US senate when the war in iraq was being authorized? He never stated that he voted against, he expressed that he was against it as a lot of Americans were
