Question:
Is there any reason, any reason at all, to trust Obama not to be a muslim?

Before you say something stupid like, "you can't be a devout muslim and pretend not to be", know that I actually know a thing or two about Islam. You -can- lie in such a manner. Muslims even lie to each other in such a manner, such as in the case of shias being persecuted by sunnis. It was the practice of the prophet's companions to renounce their faith openly as a means to gain tactical advantages. Mainstream muslims may not be aware of this, yet it is fact, and it is not simply historical curiosity, it is current practice.

The question is, we don't know if he is a pretend apostate or a real one. Is there a single reason to trust him when he claims to be for real? Considering the consequences if he is lying, is that a risk you are willing to take?

I don't vote in U.S. elections, and while I will cry for your nation when he is elected, it is far from being much of a problem for my life in particular. I have no stake in this but the truth. I hate McCain and Hilary as well.

A single reason to trust him? He hasn't lied about his childhood -- it's been investigated by the media. He wrote a book about it. He didn't try to engineer a big cover-up of his father's Muslim past. It's all right there, out in the open. Plus, there is no indication whatsoever that his father was a terrorist, his father was simply Muslim for part of his life.

Do you really believe that a man would take such extreme pains to hide his true faith and agenda for 40 years, plotting and scheming and biding his time, and then rashly make an attempt to become president after being in the senate for less than three years? That's ridiculous. I don't believe that for a second.

And yes, this is a risk I'm willing to take, because there's a 0% chance it's true.

The question of lying: it actually is okay for a muslim to lie to kaffirs, and no guilt is attached to this deception.

As for the question of whether or not one is a muslim: if your father is, in the eyes of the faithful you are considered to be one (whether you choose to accept it or not). Bit like catholics (mother or father is, you are) or jews (if your mother is, you are). You may not like or even accept it, but that's the way these people think.

So is he or not? For some muslims (the headbanging terrorist/fundamentalist types) he is and attending a christian church (even a racist black one where whities are not allowed to belong) makes him apostate. That should give pause for thought, as it may make USA an even more attractive target for these types.

What do I think? Why would I care? I think he is a racist (and contrary to the prevailing view, coloured folk CAN and ARE as racist as any rednecks) but his religion? He is a politician, and from I have seen, they hunt with the hounds, run with the hares- religion for them seems to be a matter of political expediency. I don't much admire politicians in general, and none of them have said or done anything to change that view!

Why do you think he is?

It's good to hear that Islam has some sense, i always appreciate a philosophy that allows it's adherents to gain advantages in situations.

Curious, what consequences if he is? A huge propaganda loss for terrorists? An appreciation for the separation of church (or mosque) and state? I live in Minnesota, Keith Ellison is a Representative, haven't noticed too much chaos.

Is there any reason, any reason at all, to trust that you're not an Al Qaeda operative hell-bent on trying to derail a candidate who could finally put an end to the War on Terror? I mean Al Qaeda wants this war to drag on and on. Obama could stop it. He's planning on a US-Muslim summit in 2009 to try to build a cooperative coalition against terrorism. That's great news! Al Qaeda wouldn't like that. So....using your logic, is there any reason, any reason at all to trust that you're not an Al Qaeda operative not wanting to let a peace-maker succeed?

I don't understand why a candidate faith has anything to do on how they do there job being president. I don't care if they worship a fence post, as long as they did there job that what counts.

I have my doubt about Obama.. He studied in a muslim school when he was young. He father and step-father was a muslim. There is a possibility he still sympathizes with this militant muslim or terrorist. These terrorist will lie just to achive their goal.

Yes. It depends on the individual. If you would do the same, then obviously you would think he lies. On the other hand, if you wouldn't do the same, you would believe he wouldn't either. I say it's possible but not probable.

As an outsider, you can piss off. Nobody cares for your opinion of our elections. Doubtless you feel the same way about yours.

Isn't the fact that he is a member of one of the largest Bapist congregations a good reason to believe he isn't Muslim?

I believe him, but I don't believe Cheaney shot that guy on accident. I don't believe Bush when he said Saddam had WMD's. I dont believe Larry Craig when he says he's not gay.

He said it....therefore it must be true.

Politicians DON'T lie....especially not in an election cycle so that they will get elected.
