Are the Obamas really able to relate to "normal folks" as they say?

Barack and Michelle Obama have made a great point to tell people that they understand financial problems, understand how hard it is to pay the bills.

How many of us are able to spend $10,000 a month to give our children this? Is this normal??

"the Obama girls keep a hectic schedule: soccer, dance and drama for Malia, gymnastics and tap for Sasha, piano and tennis for both. Michelle Obama tries to fit in three 90-minute workouts each week"

Do they have a right to tell us they understand how hard it is to raise children and pay the bills? Do YOUR children get this kind of money spent on them on extracurricular activities each month?

In a word ....no. I will be lucky to hang on to enough of my college funds for my kids to put them through even one year. I started saving every penny I could the day they were born and now it seems that with the stroke of a pen, it could all be taken away.

I thought that liberals were the self proclaimed empathetic party. Apparently it begins and ends with what benefits them most.

It has nothing to do with relating. BHO can't relate to anyone either. A lot of folks wanted to vote for a celebrity rather than a president. Romney fit the mold of usual presidents. BHO is more of a celebrity. Promise of free stuff didn't hurt either. Of course not everyone believes in the Easter Bunny and generous politicians.

No my children only get a sport that they like and thats it. Its to hard to drive them all around all day when you work full time, I would never spend $10,000 a month on my child unless they were sick and needed alot of medical treatment, I just think Ms. Obama is trying to tell everyone how great her children have it. Thats all shes trying to do.

i think they relate to normal people than any other political family. most past presidents came from privilaged families. like bush his father and grand father went to harvard and so did he (only b/c of the family legacy). but unlike other presidents obama dosnt have 3 houses and driving in luxurious cars. just b/c he and his wife pay for their kids to have extra activities than other kids dosnt mean they are filthy rich. they both got were they are because of what they did. not b/c they looked the part or had the "right " family background, their successful because they worked hard. and i dont see a problem with them spending their money on bettering their children, if they have the money why not?

Obama, as well as many other politicians are just that...politicians, who will say anything to make us feel warm and cuddly inside. They are the ones who will feed off frustrations of us "normal" folks and tell us what we would like to hear, and due to ignorance of some, actually believe it to be true. Unfortunately, its turned into show business. As you can tell I don't buy into the hype. Have a great day:-)

No, here is your first clue.

We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK. That's not leadership. That's not going to happen.

Are you guessing at the $10,000 per month or for some reason do you have access to the Obama's financial records

People with money seem to think everyone has they same, the Obama`s have no clue what it`s like to struggle to feed your family everyday.

And McCain is? He is one of the richest senators this country has, at least the Obamas only have one house and not over 5 like the McCains.

McCain is hardly normal folks.

I think Cindy McCain understands me so much better. People with large trust funds (like Cindy McCain and Paris Hilton) who don't work and abuse prescription drugs are much more in line with me and my values.

I can't understand people like the Obamas who actually came from nothing.
