Union members tend to believe that most workers want to join a labor union. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 47% of union members hold that view while only 18% disagree.
But those who don’t belong to a union hold a different perspective. By a 56% to 14% margin, they believe that most workers do not want to belong to a union.
As for personal preference, only nine percent (9%) of non-union workers would like to join a union. Eighty-one percent (81%) would not.
Even among those who are worried about losing their jobs in the near future, only nine percent (9%) would like to join a union. There is also no difference in a desire for union membership between those whose firms are hiring and those who are laying people off.

Ya I love the idea of ending secret ballots 'cause I want some big hairy union thugs breathing over my neck to see how I am voting so they can see if they hafta break my arms or legs or harass or humiliate me in front of everyone. Who wouldn't like that, duh!!

Boy, who comes with this s_ _ _!!!? You might as well let the union thugs give you a pre-filled out ballot and tell you "now hand that ballot back to me!"

Big labor paid big for his election to get this passed. This is what his state did well at as "pay to play". If we want to cut big spending the unions aren't the way to go as that is the why we spend so much for our cars and every thing. There has to be a better answer to this and thing my grandfather only got $1.00 a month working in the coal mines and raised a 6 children. That was the good old days when people were happy with what little they had and to be alive.

Is the job paying more or not ? If the job pays more ill join . I don't know what the hell the 81 percent that you say would not join are thinking . Isn't that the real issue here ? If they can get more for me then fine. If it pays the same then no need to bother. If it pays less then hell no i don't want a union . Funny how you all try to trick people

Their theory is that with a secret ballot a lot more people vote against the Union because no one knows how they voted. They want to have the signing of the interest cards as a person's vote because some people are scared that if they don't sign other pro-union people will know and will threaten?, assault?, ostracized? them, IDK. The last time I was involved with a union vote, I signed the card just because I felt my fellow employees should be able to make the choice. Then I voted my opinion, against the union, and I told everyone who asked how I voted. I didn't care what they thought. The voted was voted down. Nobody ever said anything bad to me, they respected my opinion. The people that tried to bring in the union were disappointed in my vote, didn't think I should have signed the card if I wasn't going to vote for, but they didn't hold it against me.

Well, you have your poll numbers down, got to give you credit for that.

But what does that do with repeating the Republican lie that Obama is favoring a law to end secret ballots?

Republicans know nothing about unions, they certainly don't know anything about this bill, they have never read anything on unions or any other union bill or even sang a Woody Guthrie song. Republicans, in fact blame unions for every conceivable problem in our economy, just like they blame the poor people and minorities for bringing down capitalism by forcing banks to accept their mortgages.

Why don't you read up a bit on this bill and get back to us, and stop embarrassing yourself by repeating Republican Talking points.

I think union intimidation, union thugs blowing up a truck on an I-44 -killing a husband and father, near Joplin MO, strikes that lost families their homes, Union bosses that take dues and live in luxury until well-they are never heard from again... things like that. There is a reason they need a secret ballot. Where's Jimmy? Get it?

it quite is barely between the of Obama's planks in his platform of "substitute" which will do little different than chase companies out of our u . s . a . and stop new ones from beginning off right here. this could value jobs. If we could desire to get the yankee production base back, the main extreme factor we can do is make u . s . a . an alluring place to do enterprise. the better company taxes and forcing hard artwork unions on potential employers can no longer charm to them into making an investment their funds right here.

No one is in favor of ENDING anything, wow never ceases to amaze me how proud Republicans are when they are grossly misinformed. EFCA simply adds another choice, while taking away nothing and that as been explained every where in detail except on Fix news.

No election without secret ballots is democratic. If you are not allowed to vote in private someone else can pressure you one way or the other.

Let the people decide. On their own.

Communism = Labor. That's where Communist used to grow their supporters. What president has been so interested in union ballots before Obama?

liberals want everything their way, and know if people can have a choice they would vote unions out(im a union worker for US STEEL, and i see all the bad).so they put people on the spot so they have 2 choose in front of people. typical bullish liberals

Along with other groups, Obama is in the pocket of Labor; he will do whatever they wish for the never-ending campaign contributions.

I think it will lead to the destruction of the free enterprise system as we know it... from fast food to industry. Prices will skyrocket (inflation like we've never seen) and layoffs will be shocking in comparison to what we've seen so far.
