AND YOU WANT THE GOVT. TO RUN HEALTH CARE?

History Lesson

The U.S. PostalService was established in 1775 - they've had 234 years to get it right; it is broke, and even though heavily subsidized, it can't compete with private sector FedExp and UPS services. The U.S. Postal Service will lose over $7 BILLION this year and will require yet another "bailout."

Social Security was established in 1935 - they've had 74 years to get it right; it is broke. There is nothing in the Social Security Trust Fund except IOUs from the government.

Fannie Mae was established in 1938 - they've had 71 years to get it right; it is broke. Freddie Mac was established in 1970 - they've had 39 years to get it right; it is broke. Together Fannie and Freddie have now led the entire world into the worst economic collapse in 80 years.

The War on Poverty was started in 1964 - they've had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our hard earned money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the poor"; it hasn't worked.

Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965 - they've had 44 years to get it right; they are both broke; and now our government dares to mention them as models for all US health care.

AMTRAK was established in 1970 - they've had 39 years to get it right; last year they bailed it out as it continues to run at a loss!

This year, a trillion dollars was committed in the massive political payoff called the Stimulus Bill of 2009; it shows NO sign of working; it's been used to increase the size of governments across America, and raise government salaries while the rest of us suffer from economic hardships. It has yet to create a single new private sector job. Our national debt projections (approaching $10 trillion) have increased 400% in the last six months.

"Cash for Clunkers" was established in 2009 and went broke in 2009 - - after 80% of the cars purchased turned out to be produced by foreign companies, and dealers nationwide are buried under bureaucratic paperwork demanded by a government that is not yet paying them what was promised.

So with a perfect 100% failure rate and a record that proves that each and every "service" shoved down our throats by an over-reaching government turns into disaster, how could any informed American trust our government to run or even set policies for America's health care system - - 17% of our economy?

The Strange part of this Health Care Reform~ is that the government

is going to start collecting taxes on this ~~NOW~~ and it won't take

effect until 2013~~this gives them a few years to collect taxes to support

Health Care Reform but Obama and Congress already know this will be

short for what they need when the program starts to kick in

You have done your homework well on the above socialistic programs

that are failing~~what will the shortfall be in Heath Care Reform ??

It will be in the trillions~~one guess is it will end up costing 38 Trillion

The Post Office was making money, not much, but covering it's expenses, until about 20 years ago. What happened then?

Well, UPS, Federal Express (FedEx) and DHL all got into the home delivery business. That cut the legs out from under the USPS parcel post revenues.

Twenty years is also about the time that having an email address stopped being an odd thing (I can still remember the "@" parties at science-fiction conventions. You needed an email address to get in.) and became increasingly a part of everyday business and later personal life. So fewer letters are being sent.

So the failures of the USPS are not because it is a governmental body (which it isn't, really. It's a business owned by the government) but instead are due to changing technologies and strong private competition.

The rest of your rant is similarly flawed.

The government does run my health care. It's called the VA.

Well, if we still function as a world power house all this

time with all these defects, apparently one more 'great

big failure' is not going to bring the end to us! So let's get that health care reform or whatever it's called on the ball, up and running. We know it's government run and will fall short of making a profit, but it is a service to the people, not intended to be a profit making venture. The young adults

who do not qualify for any health care program need

to have access to preventive medical check ups and

care they cannot afford otherwise. A sick society is a

weak society, this country is always bragging about being

one of the world's richest, but it is also one of the world's

sickest, we should not feel proud to hold that honor!

You don't see UPS or FedEx delivering our letters, bank statements, or bills in the mail do you?

No you don't they deal with specifically taking orders and delivering packages.

If you don't know what your talking about, than don't talk.
