He is not going to have special tax cuts for small business and give tax credits when they hire employers, he will help them provide health care. He is going to give tax cuts to 95% of taxpayer's so they will have money to spend at these small businesses. Even in that lame Joe the Plumber example....based upon profit of 280K Joe would have paid less in taxes then he is paying now.

Middle Class and Small Business Tax Relief: Barack Obama will cut or freeze taxes for 99% of small business owners, allowing them to put more money back into their companies, create jobs, and jumpstart the economy. He will eliminate all capital gains taxes for anyone who starts or invests in a small business, thus spurring innovation and investment. And his plan to cut taxes for 95% of middle-class families shows his commitment to rebuilding our economy from the bottom up.

Emergency Help for America’s Struggling Small Businesses: Barack Obama understands that, like our large financial institutions, small businesses need emergency help too. He recently announced his Small Business Rescue Plan to help the shops, restaurants, start-ups, and small firms that create jobs and make our economy grow. Barack’s Small Business Rescue Plan uses tools we already have in place at the Small Business Administration and in the tax code to help small businesses as quickly and effectively as possible. Read more.

Lower Health Care and Energy Costs: An Obama administration will give small business owners and employees real solutions to skyrocketing health care and energy costs. Although Barack’s plan will exempt small businesses from requirements to offer health insurance to their employees or contribute on their behalf, he will give them incentives to do so through a Small Business Health Tax Credit. Small businesses will also have new opportunities to buy low-cost, high quality health plans for their employees through a national exchange. Finally, Barack will provide emergency relief for high energy costs, while promoting investments in alternative energy and energy efficiency.

You are so very incorrect. You don't own a small business, do you? If you did, you would know how hard it is to meet all the financial requirements you have to satisfy the government that you are indeed a business, pay your employees, maintain phone lines, computer access, often websites, vehicles, advertising, inventory, employee SS taxes, employer taxes, state taxes, licenses, and federal taxes. On top of all this, Obama is going to raise taxes on small business. Where in the hell are they going to get the money to pay them?

I'll tell you, since you obviously don't know that either. The small businessman (who may very well have 250K revenue go through his business annually) will either do one or more of several things. He will: lay off employees, cut employee benefits, cut salaries, raise the prices of the goods and/or services he provides, outsource jobs if he can, or simply close up shop. Unemployment will escalate, prices will go up, and before you know it, you won't be able to find anyone to do any work at a price you can afford. You'll be wishing like hell to see that lame Joe the plumber, then, cutie.

Hide and watch. You'll see.

The first five years are not expected to be money making years in a new start up business. So, the tax cuts he proposes for new businesses might be just smoke & mirrors. Most physician offices make over $250,000 per year so who is going to pay that increase in their taxes? Of course, it is going to trickle down to the consumer as in MOST similar cases. Bill Clinton said he was going to give tax cuts to the same middle class, history tells us that he did not fulfill those promises!! Why think Obama will do the same!! Many plumbers in Miami make over $250,000 per year, which will affect the prices of bids for construction jobs.

Higher taxes are always passed down to the consumer... this is not a secret to anyone but possibly you. You are probably a ACORN employee.

tax cut to 95% of the people --ha --you guys really do have STUPID written on your foreheads . You cant pay less than 0, none, nada , nil, zero

The tax raise to all people he will do is gonna hurt because thats why we got the tax cut in the first place . I cant afford employees at his tax rate for business which exceeds all the handouts he brags of. The only way he can do anything remotely like he is talking would be a tax rais for 99% of the people--Obamas rich Elite are exempt

Greedy people who are in office see them as a meal ticket. I mean, how can one grow in business if they have their hands into it and taking your profits away? Big business eats small ones up like candy with those elected helping. How will this economy ever get back on it's feet if they find ways to cut the little man off at the knees? This is a sad day in our lives when we have had to do so much for so little that we get in return from that we pay for.

special tax cuts won't save small business when we got WALMART and BEST BUY.

Tax credit? We are in debt... where is he going to find money to pay the Corporations?

Why the Corporations need Government's help?

No... they will spend at large businesses.

Joe the Plumber wants to open many businesses around the U.S., he wants to be like Roto-Rooter.

Of course. His plan does involve paying taxes. If you feel it doesn't your wrong. Most middle class and everyone will be taxed. "Democrats Tax".

His plan for small business is not good. Small businesses need bonuses instead of taxes. Obama needs to give reasons why he is trying to put the small business owner out of business.

He is not going to give tax cuts to small businesses unless they make under $250000 a year, not much for a business. He may give them a little help to provide healthcare but he will also force them to provide it and fine them if they don't. Just more regulations on businesses, and more taxes will put businesses out of business or cause them to hire less help.

That's just what the plumber asked him about a plumbing business and Obama said he would have to raise his taxes to spread the wealth. He said it himself.

Ask a small business owner see what they tell you (but not a racist one).

The more money you take, from any source, to spend on government programs, the less money there is in the private sector to be spent, invested and used for business expansion, jobs, etc. Business, not government, creates jobs and prosperity. Obama has proposed about a trillion dollars in more government spending. Where do you really think that money is going to come from? Obama's plan is all smoke and mirrors... each item sounds good, but when you combine it all it is pure illusion. He is either deceiving people with promises he knows he can't keep, or if he does keep them, he is a socialist.

Most small businesses are in fact Sub S corporations, which means that it is the individuals that own them that are taxed based on their respective taxable income. I know of only a handful of such people that actually see annual personal taxable incomes greater than $250K a year. Now, it can be argued (however it's stretching it) that because super large corporations will be "passing on" the costs of higher taxes in pricing their goods, thus resulting in "higher taxes" for such small companies, in fact the overall result is more like a sales tax. There are 2 charts that everyone should keep their eyes on---the first being the total revenues raised by the federal government, and the second being the NET bracket tax load for individuals and companies. The idea here is to keep a slighly higher tax burden on the higher tax brackets, which is done by a progressive tax structure, something that has been around for almost a century now. it's laughable to even argue that by increasing tax rates in the higher brackets (like by about 3% starting at $250K), somehow that will result in a lopsided load on the LOWER tax brackets! But that is the argument being made by anti-socialists, whether or not they realize that.

Because it costs money to run a business, and this will cause job losses because the businesses will not have enough money to hire and keep help. The higher taxes will cause the businesses to pass the cost down to the consumer in order to stay in business, so that means higher costs of products and services to the consumer/customer.

You are wrong. Everyone will pay more in taxes when the Bush tax cuts are repealed, as Obama promises to do. Not only that, but those who do not pay any taxes into the system at all will get a rebate check.... redistribution of income.

Simple economics my uneducated friend. If business are struggling to make money, and you go and take more away from them, then they will be worse off. And remember, he first started at 250k, now he is at 200k. Where do you think he'll be when his big spending requires money? I think the number will keep lowering.
2008-10-19 16:35:37 UTC
How can you cut taxes on 95% of taxpayers when only 60 of the US pays taxes. As I have said before he will tax us to prosperity. When he told joe he wants to spread the wealth around it was like the first thing I have heard him say that was truthful

According to this chart, anyone making between 250k and 603k per year would pay an additional $12 in taxes under Obama's plan.

I think you mean he's "going to have special tax cuts for small businesses...". But mainly it's because most McCain supporters don't look more into Obama's plan. All they hear is raising taxes on the rich and the rich will layeth their mighty hand down onto the poor.

Trust me, Obama will help small business much more than McCain would. The very rich would be the only ones paying more taxes under Obama's plan.

He's proposed a capital gains tax increase to as much as 28%. As a small business owner, if you have success you will be taxed for acheiving that success!
