this is a once in a life historic presidential debate and i'd like to hear from you! (the american people) as to their opinions on tonights presidential debate.

poll: who do you think won tonight's presidential debate and why?
- which candidate in your opinion was most convincing after tonight's debate?
-did anyone change opinions overall?
-who do you think was most in denial?
-which candidate had a more optimistic view on things?
-which candidate is more like an authoritarian leader?
Twelve answers:
I'm back...and this still sucks.

1. Neither won the debate. They both made some good points and they both rambled off on some point that didn't make much sense and didn't have much to do with the original question;

2. Obama spoke more about the present and McCain kept talking about past events with dead people. Obama scored in that regard tonight;

3. Not really;

4. They're both in denial though on different points. Obama has to realize that he can't do everything that he promised in light of the bailout talks and McCain has to realize that the world has changed and he can't approach things the way that Reagan did;

5. I don't know that optimism came into this debate;

6. I don't think either came across as authoritarian. McCain came across as more rigid in his stance on foreign policy issues but I don't know that that translates to authoritarian. It goes back to my question about his willingness to embrace a new way of doing things.

who won

McCain, the first time Obama said John was right

You learn that in JR high, never admit the other side is right

First rule of debating

John has a point, I think this too, is what he should of said, and will in the next debate

I thought they both had strong points in some area, and were wrong. I think McCain did a better job, Obama held his own. I did not watch the debate, I listened to it. That made a difference I think

No, I am still most likely voting for McCain. I never voted for a republican, so who knows

Both, I would say tied

Neither

McCain, Obama is much more like Bush then McCain in personalities, and the share the same bad ones

who do you think won tonight's presidential debate and why? McCain, gave much more in depth answers then Obama. Obama still doesn't answer the question he beats the chicken too much.

- which candidate in your opinion was most convincing after tonight's debate? McCain

-did anyone change opinions overall? No

-who do you think was most in denial? Obama. it was written all over his face

-which candidate had a more optimistic view on things? the most Liberal did; but, that's what optimistic believe ... all is good when all is not good

-which candidate is more like an authoritarian leader? McCain

Same old. Both of them dodged the questions as expected.

McCain won on economic issues, but he was too pushy on foreign affairs. He convinced me that Obama tax & spending plan would be detrimental to our country in crisis right now. On the other hand, Obama did better than I'd expected on foreign affairs. Overall, however, he is too agreeable. I thought that he would rebut McCain on the success of the serge. There were a lot of flaws in McCain's claim of the serge, but Obama missed the bus on that. However, McCain did not convince me that Obama does not understand foreign affairs - that move was too pushy.

Obama was less preaching. Thank God for that! McCain did not bring his usual sense of humor. That was unfortunate.

Since the debate was so generic and boring, Obama will probably has a slight edge over McCain. However, to me, he still cannot make the case. He cannot convince me that he has enough experience and ability to be our leader. I am still leaning McCain.

I was undecided but leaning towards change with Obama and was looking to see if he could be presidential. Well, he fit the bill and I was surprised almost all news stations I watched afterwards gave McCain the win. I felt overall on material it was close with McCain winning some foreign policy by appearing much more knowledgeable to Obama to Obama winning on foreign policy "big picture". Obama was better on taxes and the economy with McCain a bit too much like what we've had over the last 8 years. To be honest I would love Obama to win and Obama to pick McCain as his secretary of either defense or foreign affairs. Obama showed respect for McCains experience and that is important to me to show he realizes there's other views. Great debate slight edge to Obama.

Obama was more convincing and seemed more openminded. If he didn't know every minute fact, he showed that he can learn quickly (although tonight, he seemed in command of things).

I was a McCain supporter - then with the Palin fiasco and now the debate, I will vote for Obama.

Most in denial? McCain. Health care will go to pieces under his rule, because he has "faith in the American people to make their own decision"...haha i could see right through that

Optimistic - McCain - he doesn't want the sacrifice of the American blood to go to naught. His statements about that left me nauseated...as if winning at all costs is everything - throwing good money after bad.

Obama seemed to understand that the last 8 years have been bad and if we don't do something, we'll sink. McCain thinks we're moving forward in a good direction......just keep spending all that dough on Iraq and focus on little else. Forget about health care and children's education....spend it all on foreign defense and veterans...an asset freeze. McCain is determinedly lopsided and has tunnel vision. Obama wants to prioritize and seems more flexible about how the govt will or won't spend their money.

Authoritarian leader - McCain, for sure. I do not trust him.

I didnt see a clear winner on this debate but. Obama is showing me repeatedly he cannot handle anything without advisors holding his hand every step of the way. i'm sorry but Obama is not ready to lead. Sarah Palin handles leadership better than he does. My vote still goes to McCain just on the strength of him having Palin as a backup. Joe Biden is nothing but a left band wagon rider he cant think for himself

I think McCain won. Obama was caught in a lie about Henry Kissinger saying we should meet with Iran's leader, no strings attached.
